COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

English: Old Mephisto is a big beer: Full, warming and intense. Old Mephisto offers balanced sweetness, roasted caramel and a rounded bitterness - all held together by the vinous character. The inviting brandy coloured Old Mephisto can be enjoyed with strong cheeses, full game dishes or on its own.

dunkpigen (379) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAR 24, 2008
Bottle. Pours a beautyful dark amber with a smalle creamy head. Aroma of raisins and prunes and it has som viniousity to it. Flavour is again raisins and prunes with a nice viniousity and a dryness in the end. It is very creamy and has a nice palate.

thewolf (12742) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAR 24, 2008
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours a wonderful clear, dark amber with a fine, frothy yellowish head. Aroma is very fruity, lots of raisins, overripe plums, some dough, rye bread, caramel. Low to medium carbonation, foamy and a bit oily mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit too vinious (a bit too sharp, that is). Otherwise, flavours include the fruitiness from the aroma (subdued by the alcohol though). A good caramel sweet maltiness as well. A bit too much.

Bottle, labelled "best before judgement day". Sweet, alcoholic piss/puke aroma; watery flavour which is quite impressive for a 10+% beer.

Grovlam (4252) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2008
Huge thick beige head that mostly lasted. Very sparkling appearance with an amber color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of bread, toasted malt, light alcohol, light fruity notes and hint of yeast and floral notes as well. Over the palate comes toffee, vinous and very malty base with a somewhat dusty grain / caramels feel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor with low bitterness. Sweet malty / toffee like finish with a bitter alcoholic twist.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2008 2008-02-08, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Dark red mahogany color; creamy head. The aroma is alcoholic, with light caramel. It has a medium body strength, not to be confused with the alcohol, that immediately gets in the mouth; there is some caramel and mild chocolate flavor, with traces of vegetables. Wrong and extremely alcoholic; a "malty malt liquor". I won’t spend more words, as this beer doesn’t deserve much.

2008-01-28, draught at Cockney Pub, Århus, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Hazy dark amber color; creamy head; sticky lace. It has a very mild aroma, of malt, and something similar to a Malt Liquor. It’s full bodied, with a strong malt and caramel flavor, unfortunately for me corrected by a too strong sweet liquorice in the beginning; the liquorice then disappears a bit, and some sweet nutty trace comes in. It’s quite bitter and the final is long, with the malt too and the alcohol gently warms the mouth. Quite good, but the liquorice is not my liking.
