Foam is great in this barley. Normally, the alcohol frother strong barley not as much and not as long as it is the case with this. I see it, however, as a positive sign, since the foam helps keep the fragrance and flavors awaits.
The aroma is vinous, very caramel and a little hop. The taste is very composed of fruit, as it is very hard to put on fruit names. In addition, it has a clear taste of caramel malt and hop bitterness that is surprisingly rich in relation to the beer-type. It has a sweetness that is a little reminiscent candy, but its great taste adds the natural acidity facing a perfect balance to its many other flavors. It has a large thermal alcoholic flavor, but because of the high hop bitterness will never penetrating the alcohol. It is certainly one barley that will be very different after long term storage, but even as a young barley it has a great character quality. It’s damn nice ...

Bottle. Aroma of caramel, molasses, dried orange-red fruits. Flavor is sweet with these fruit notes and hints at richer molasses/toffee flavors. Pretty basic. Darkover (1543) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2013

Bottle, 50cl - Semi hazy beer with a large white head. Aroma is malty with notes of spices, caramel, dried fruit and som alcohol. Flavor is malty with notes of toffee, caramel, herbs, some vanilla and a hint of alcohol. Very warming beer and perfect for this time of year. Slight hints of mintyness indicate hopping with Northern Brewer. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - AUG 20, 2011
On tap at the local option. Pour is murky brown/amber with a frothy beige head that retains fairly well into this snifter. Spotty lacing is present as well. Dark fruits, caramel, and cream on the nose. The flavor profile is caramel, cream, dark fruits, sweet breads, licorice, and toffee. What I really noticed about this brew was the nice balanced flavored profile all around.
