Rating #592, bottle from Barley Wine fiulijn (21516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 16, 2008
Easily opaque brown-red beer with a green hue. Ok head. Aroma has malts, loads of hops, caramel, alcohol, berries. Or as one of my friends called it: Beer sirup. Flavor of malts, liquorice, blackcurrant, raspberries, raisins, menthol, sweetness, alcohol and a medium bitter finish. Medium thickness, nicely soft. Good!

Dark red mahogany color; creamy head. The aroma is alcoholic, with light caramel. It has a medium body strength, not to be confused with the alcohol, that immediately gets in the mouth; there is some caramel and mild chocolate flavor, with traces of vegetables. Wrong and extremely alcoholic; a "malty malt liquor". I won’t spend more words, as this beer doesn’t deserve much.

Hazy dark amber color; creamy head; sticky lace. It has a very mild aroma, of malt, and something similar to a Malt Liquor. It’s full bodied, with a strong malt and caramel flavor, unfortunately for me corrected by a too strong sweet liquorice in the beginning; the liquorice then disappears a bit, and some sweet nutty trace comes in. It’s quite bitter and the final is long, with the malt too and the alcohol gently warms the mouth. Quite good, but the liquorice is not my liking.
Bottle. Clear amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma and taste of malty, fruits and herbs. Well balanced. Godd barley wine. Christian (13932) - Odense, DENMARK - APR 21, 2008
Hazy red amber with a big and lasting off-white head. Fruity and vineous aroma with some cherry. Strong licorice notes. A hint of mushroom. Dry and alcoholic flavour, slihgtly roast and with some licorice. Strong and warming alcohol.
All Djævlebryg is unusual and I give credit for that, but this one didn’t surprise me in a positive way. Hansen (8621) - Assentoft, DENMARK - AUG 31, 2008

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2011 dark brown that’s kind of ugly with a light tan head, big bubbly head with good retention, great lace...nose that is very sweet and malty, whopper sweet malts with molasses, green grassy hops and alcohol, less hops than a typical bw, standard but I dig it... Taste is too hoppy and alcoholic(especially), loses to much of the malt, a bit of vanilla comes on the finish... Boring bw that I can live without
