From tap at Lord Nelson. Pours pitch black with a minimal lacing chocolate brown head. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Solid chocolate note too. Current fruity and roasted malt flavour. Nice liqourice and mild coffee note in addition. Slowly declining black currant flavour. Nice lingering roasted malt and liqourish into the finish. Light hops bitterness in the far finish. Draft on mix gas. A pitch black beer with a dense dark brown head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by chocolate, but also with light notes of citrusy hops and alcohol, in general the aroma is quite light - which might be because it is served on mixed gas. The flavor is very sweet and very malty with strong notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and alcohol - a very powerful flavor, but a bit over the top for me - or is it just because it is young? The mouthfeel is very smoot due to the mixed gas. joergen (28949) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 4, 2008

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is osier, roasted malts, some burnt wet wood and mild coffee. Also some slight vanilla and nuts. Flavour is much the same, but the wooden notes are also slightly acidic. A quite pleasant brew. Travlr (25771) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 3, 2011

Cask at EBF Copenhagen 2008 ... Deep black ... nice sweet roast nose ... lots of toffee and a little liquorish mixed in with some tobacco on a nice deep road malt base. Nice and smooth. omhper (25546) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 14, 2008
Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Very black with dense beige head. Fruity licorice aroma. Sweet and thick with vast portions plum, licorice and ink. Some buttery caramel, aniseed and salty licrorice chime in. Very powerful, but still young and syrupy. It sure has potential, but needs at least five years to get rid of the syrup and ink. madmitch76 (25344) - , Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2012

Very dark brown beer, good tan head. Light palate, a little dry. Smooth sweet dark malt with a trace of coffee and a touch of spicy and sweet bubblegum. Really well joined up. Semi dry finish. This bottle at least 2 years old.
