COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

Brewers note: This beer is NOT brewed as an American Pale Ale. It is not brewed to suit a certain style which is why we call it a "hoppy ale".

English: Both the British and Americans are good at using hops - in slightly different ways. We have combined the best from both traditions and created Schopenhauers Vilje ("Schopenhauer’s Will"), a beautiful amber coloured ale with a floral character, caramel notes and - like the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer - a good portion of bitterness. This brew can be enjoyed on a hot summer’s day, a cool evening or accompanied by e.g. poultry dishes.

Bottled. Thanks to ekstedt.
Orange colour with good head. Flowery hoparoma with a tad earth. Medium, pale ale, hop flavour with low sweetness and pretty low bitterness. I am about to forget this one...THERE!

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2012 Bottle (33 cl) from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. Deep reddish amber, hazy, with a large creamy off-white head. Dusty earthy malt aroma, slightly caramelly, with some herbal hops. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation. Quite sweet with a moderate bitterness.

(on tap) Light rustyred, white head. Dry and easydrinkable - all the way through. Sharp, hoppy taste, light mouthfeel, steady finish. The finish is rather powerfull and lingers.

Svesse (8831) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 9, 2007
(Bottle) Clear amber colour with huge off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrussy, slightly rubbery hops, notes of orange peel, dark fruit, caramel and a hint of crystal malt. Fruity, hoppy taste with underlying grainy malt. Lots of citrus (grapefruit, orange peel, Seville orange) and a sweetish hint of rubber, slightly burnt. Long, hoppy, sweetish finish. Hop character firmly placed right between american and english beers. A tad less sweetness would probably give it better balance, but this is still a very nice beer.

Hazy red-amber color. Some malt, some fruity hop, strong bitterness. Quite good.

50 cl. bottle. Clear dark, golden coulour with a nice white head. Nice hoppy aroma of floral. Hoppy flavour with a nice bitter finish. Ends up a little unbalanced in the hop-taste, but I like it anyway.

500. Thanks, Maria! This is a really nice one. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with a thick, sudsy white head. No visible carb. Huge splash of fresh foresty pine off the nose--really a concentratedly mimic-y scent; closest thing to true pine glade I’ve smelled yet in a beer. Nice medium body with a good soft carb profile. Forward flavors of biscuit, caramel, and more piney goodness. Unfortunately a bit of aluminum sets in the near the end; oxidation rears its ugly head with these summer trades, but it’s obvious how good this beer ordinarily is and the numbers reflect that. Cheers to a great brewery and the best trader in the history of the world. :-)
