COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of the original pilsner beers of Bohemia in a tradition that dates back to 1842. We use pale malts and a generous amount of Bohemian Saaz Hops to produce a golden color, soft, nutty malt flavor and floral hop bouquet.

Sweet nutty smell, golden hough. Taste vanilla and walnuts, slight hop and almost no aftertaste. Very easy to drink but delightfully unique for a pilsner.

Czech hops, citrus zest, spice and grass. Fairly hoppy with mild bite that’s countered by the citrus and wheat. Not bad.

DATE: October 22, 2016... OCCASION: Penn State-Ohio State Prime Time White Out... GLASSWARE: Ommegang 125th Anniversary pokal... clear, moderately effervescent golden body... a snow-white, half-finger filmy head that occupies the top consistently... sharp-as-cheddar hops elicit a pungent punch... fragrant, almost like perfume, floral, spicy and slightly toasted in its malts... first sip proves to be a winner, with a balanced mouth feel at the teeth, tongue and throat... medium-bodied, but quite drinkable... active and engaging... the flavor profile is spicy, bready, sweet and refreshing... a late graininess reminds of its Eastern European roots... this one eluded me for some time, having first sampled it over a decade ago... the payoff is a solid one, with a tasty alternative to a blander light lager....

A friend brought this over. Generally not my chosen style but this is pretty good. Crisp and clean with a nice sweetness. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At brewpub: Pours clear gold with white head. Aroma is grains, grass, and some flowers. Taste is quite crisp. Nice Czech style hoppiness without trying to get it to be all too American. Very fresh tasting, so you get a one up on most of the imports. Good overall.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear yellow color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of lemon, yeast, and grain. Taste of lemons, zest, yeast, corn, and grain.

On tap at the brewpub. An enjoyable beer to drink with Dock Street’s excellent pizza. Like most American microbreweries’ attempts at a Bohemian Pilsner, though, I thought this fell short of my expectations and was not fully true to the style. Bold hop presence but the hops’ character strikes me more like a poorly-executed IPA than a Pilsner. Light color, but the beer is too heavy upon drinking. Aroma is fresh, but flavor and sensations on the palate are too heavy. A complete absence of grassy tones, which I always notice in Czech beers. A good beer, but a bit of a let down when I compare to what I expect from this style. I still have yet to have a Pilsner brewed by an American brewery that really strikes me as true to the style.

On tap at Dock Street. Clear olive yellow with a white head. Nose is apple, grass and grain. Crisp and clean medium light with a dry finish. Taste is apple juice, lemon zest, grass and paper. Solid pilsner with perfumy hints.

Relatively clear golden body. Thin white head, soapy lacing. Nose is gentle with citric and grassy Euro hops. Taste is similar but shows increased grainy presence, more hop spice as well. Light bodied, assertive carbonation, a little thin in parts, but a clean refreshing finish. Good effort, but doesn’t live up to the other pilseners available fresh in Philly, especially Victory’s Prima and Braumeister series pilseners.
