Growler courtesy of JB175. Pours dark brown with a finger length lasting head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, some molasses, dark fruit. Tastes of bitter malt, dark chocolate, textured sweet malt. Velvety layered mouthfeel. Well worth seeking out! DocLock (10836) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 30, 2010
Draft from firkin at Craft’s Dock Street event. Pours so black I can’t tell if it is turbid or not, with a 1-finger tan head that stays around for awhile. Well hidden alcohol, with predominantly dark patent malt and dark chocolate notes in the flavor. Fairly dense palate, with good complexity, and taste notes of late hops, fig, and minor rauchy hints matched by a gargantuan malt load. Delicious, and I feel like a real beer hunter every time I find a beer like this. WISEGUY572 (1377) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2009
Scarily easy to drink. Great flavor of Belgian chocolate. Silky oily mouthfeel, almost a porter. After the chocolate the malt backbone emerges, with a long bitter hoppy finish. Bonus points for pulling this off at 6%. One of most pleasant surprises of Philadelphia Beer Week. egajdzis (6672) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2010
Opaque black with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast, some smoked malts, and light alcohol. Taste of sweeter chocolate notes, roast, smoke, dark chocolate, and light alcohol in the finish. JB175 (1665) - Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 19, 2008
Dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma is thick and roasty - Dark chocolate, earth, berries in there. Flavor is dominated by a belgian yeast/dark chocolate mix that is quite unique. Also getting some coffee, smokiness, and earthy flavors. Full bodied feel. I’m diggin this one.

On tap at the Dock Street Brew Pub. Poured a deep brown color with small sized off white head. Aromas of lots of smoke (camp fire), some dark chocolate, earlthy, and a littel fruity. Tastes of smoked meats, chocoalte, roast, and fruity. If I had this one blind, I would have guessed it was a smoked beer. Not too much chocolate, but I did enjoy the smokiness. On tap at the brewpub. Ebony with a lacy tan head. Nose is coffee and dark chocolate. Medium body with a touch of carb. Taste is dark roast and mild grapefruit. Wonderful note of Belgian chocolate builds with a dry finish. Nice stout with just enough sweetness. My favorite DS so far. Still waiting to be wowed. jeremytoni (3082) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - NOV 20, 2008
