Hazy dark brown to black color, tan to light brown small head. Light roasted, some coffee taste. Roasted aftertaste. Medium to fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Some smoke aftertaste as well. Roasted, light smoked scent.
Draft - Dark malts, toast and some cocoa. Deep jet brown with a rich light brown head. Toast and cocoa with some light raisin notes. Decent. mcberko (17815) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 22, 2014
On tap at Dockside, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out tart notes, some roast and cocoa. Flavour brings out chocolate, roast and some unpleasant tart notes that shouldn’t be there. Palate is nice and thick, but the off notes kill what would be this brewery’s best beer (though that’s not saying much). Quite poor. RichardGretton (4770) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 26, 2012

Brewery and Restaurant. Black beer with a brownish tinge. The aroma is malty with some light roasted'ness oatyness. The flavour has heavy roasted'ness and a good bitter finish. Overall a nice well roasted and coffee like beer.

Pint on tap at the brewpub pours dark brown in color with a small off-white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild roasted malts. Taste is a light roasted grain and mild hop bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness. Light to medium body with some decent carbonation leaving a tickle on the tongue. A little light for a schwarzbier, but still relatively tasty and decently balanced.

Draft at the brewpub. poured a clear medium orange color with a white head. Not really a "dark" beer by any stretch of the imagination. Smelled of subdued grass, toffee, and minimal steeping barley. Light bodied, dry, and watery. Tasted of stale flowery hops and pale malt. This was the only beer I tasted at this place that didn’t have an off cardboardy or papery flavor. That said, it still wasn’t a very good beer. fiulijn (20492) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 2, 2008
Draught at the brewpub
Light amber color, nice lace. It has a light but nice hop and malt aroma. As other beers here, the flavor gets more confusing; there is some carameln but the bitterness is a bit too harsh. Similar problems as the Hefeweizen, but less here.
