From a bottle. Winey, herbal aroma with some slight cheesy notes as well as some musty dry apple cider character. Poured a golden color with a soft white head. Soft palate but full mouthed feel. Herbal, sage and parsley flavors with soft wood and red-wine character. slowrunner77 (12581) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
"Worth a revisit as well...red wine fruity sweet and tart characteristics do apretty good job of drowning out the base beer, though some of the stronger herbals still come through nicely. Good, but costs more and is not as good as the base. 10/5-base and fruit come through in the bottle. Smooth, nice." djd07 (15338) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 17, 2014
Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong floral hop and oak. Thin mouthfeel with herb and straw, light sweet finish, good. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 25, 2013
I rated the regular version a 4 so higher than this. Dirty amber. Soft head. More depth in aroma. Grape flavour matches the spice. Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 8, 2013
Bottle bought at Stone. Hazy murky yellow pour, thin foamy white head. Aroma is very fruity with loads of spices, pumpkin, red wine and a hint of barnyard. Flavor is quite fruity, almost sweet with some decent malts, but quickly becoming more spicy and slightly tart in the finish. Very complex brew and it takes a few sips before it becomes enjoyable. Definitely unique.

Corked and caged 500 ml bottle purchased at the brewery fourteen months ago ($15.00). Pours a slightly hazy peach-amber hue with two fingers of white foam. Aroma of significant spicy sage, rosemary and medicinal herbs, lemon verbena, and some sweet-spicy fruit. Flavor has more sage and other herbiness (perhaps some mint as well), spicy citrus, some dry oak barrel, tannic red wine, tart apple, and bready malts. Dry finish with a small amount of lingering hop bitterness. It’s just okay...the wine barrel does not seem to have added much and this BA version is not as "fresh" or refreshing as the regular version of the Saison du BUFF. Once again, the high price tag effectively makes this another BA miss from Stone as I prefer the original non-BA version. (40, 807) Tmoney99 (14850) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 4, 2013
Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate herbs, citrus, tannic wood and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spice sweet flavor with a medium spice sweet finish of moderate duration. I enjoyed this with friends. 500ml bottle, shared by brew3crew. Mostly hazy golden amber color. Good thin white head. Good mountains of lace. Very nice floral, herbal, citrus zesty aroma. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly soft. Dry in the finish. Nice light savory taste. Very enjoyable special version of Saison Du Buff. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - JUN 9, 2013
500 ml bottle to snifter (muled by brew3crew). Looks good for the style; a lightly cloudy orange with white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells doughy, yeasty, and spicy with citrus zest and a nice red wine backbone. A bit of aftershave too. Tastes like it smells, minus the aftershave. Nice and lively on the palate. Good beer! I like the base beer much better. Seems like it was left in the barrels too long. The bold tannins from the barrel dominate the beer.
