Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBUs, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

On-tap. A - Blazing burnt orange color with a decent sized, smooth, creamy white head. Pretty good retention but almost no lace. Surprising given the ABV. S - Sweet citrus and stone fruit. Caramel malt and some booziness. Pine hop aroma is also in there. Pretty fruity overall. T - Like the aroma, there is a good amount of citrus, tropical and stone fruit. Mango, apricot, peach, grapefruit and orange all in there. A touch of booze on the finish but not much given the ABV. Caramel malt is also fairly strong. Much more sweet than bitter, but bitterness does come out. M - Medium starting toward full body. Nice carbonation and has a smooth and slightly viscous feel. D - Even with the ABV it isnt too boozy. It is a little on the sweet side though. That said, given what this beer is, it is very drinkable. Notes: On tap at Beer Revolution. Not sure the year. It was surprisingly not to boozy and pretty easy to drink. Having had 90 Minute, I knew this would be sweet and it definitely was. Nice beer with plenty of sweet hopiness, but there is a touch of bitterness. Good, but I dont know if Id pay the price for a bottle.

Bottle, shared with Albert. Pours a clear gold color, with a small, beige head. Vanilla and tangerines, with some syrup, butterscotch, and pine. Sweet and boozy, with a pretty strong bitterness. Heavy body, smooth, and a bit astringent. This is a solid, boozy, malty beer. Quite tasty.

Clear amber colour with medium head. Medium intensive aroma of caramel, malts, resinous with grassy background. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter in aftertaste. Surprisingly well hidden alcohol (18% ABV!). Soft carbonation. Full body. Ive expected more hoppiness but its really malty despite of 120 IBU. However, its worth to try.

5oz pour, on tap at Kline's. Hazy golden pour with a glorious head. Wow. Big malty backbone on this beer. Super sweet pine notes, almost no bitterness. I've read others note how this beer hides the alcohol but I feel like I'm being punched in the jaw by it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Golden, hazy, frothy tan head. Raisin, maple, floral, and candy aromas. Sweet malty flavor with an alcohol flavored finish. Medium-thin body. Raisin, alcohol flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA really is one hell of a beer. While 90 Minute IPA seems a little reserved for its 90 minutes of hopping, 120 Minute is balls-out hoppy. Huge resinous nose with pine, orange peel, grapefruit, and pineapple. Flavor is bitter, citrusy, piney, sprucey (is that a word?), and floral. This is pretty aggressive stuff, which makes sense given the 120 IBUs. The fact that the 18% ABV is almost entirely hidden by the sheer amount of hops is pretty impressive. I practically chewed my way through the 5.5 oz pour of this.

Deep copper with classy lacing. Very oily with long and strong bitterness. Assertive citrus/pine hops on nose. Caramel, raisin, then concentrated hop resins in mouth. Prominent boozy presence hints at whiskey.

Not a fan of malt, and this has maltiness. High ABV. Good mouth feel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Corpo mdio/alto e baixa carbonatao. Como toda cerveja extrema, pouca drinkability.
