COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBUs, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Bottle from 11-26-08. Poured a deep orange with some whitish head. Very little lacing. Aroma was mostly boozey nail polish. Taste was about the same; really boozey, some citrus, some vanilla, some medium malt sweetness. Ended up drain pouring this. Sad, because this beer is great fresh, and great with 2-3 years on it. Ill be cracking the rest of my old bottles soon to see how theyre holding up.

What I like about this beer is that it is right at the edge of clawing, but not over. This is a sipping beer and for me much closer to a hopped barley wine. Of course a strong aroma of hops and nice color. very nice lacing as well. a bit sweet of course but great by a fire.

Is it a perfect IPA? Maybe, but Ill hold out hope that something even better is out there. Ive got a case of 24 that has aged for over a year now and its still fantastic/ getting better.

Shared a bottle with Sr. Netz- Great dark golden color. Didnt hold the lacing head very long, but still had some at the edges. Smelled grassy and resiny, but could not cover the faint boozy notes. It has a huge hop punch as it rolls into the mouth but mellows quite a bit on the backside. Still a classic for hoppiness.

This is a monster of an IPA and it stands apart from most others Ive had. At 18%, it hits you quickly, but its got enough of a nice, smooth, almost honey-like flavor that you want to keep drinking it. An excellent offering from Dogfish Head.

Poured from bottle. Pours a clean gold. Smells very boozy (which makes sense considering its 18%). Very malty with caramel notes and a small small note of citrus.

Type: .25L draft Glass: Panama 66 snifter From: Tiger! Tiger! in North Park (San Diego), Calif. Price: $8.50 Purchased: Dec. 20, 2016 Consumed: Dec. 20, 2016 Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA Misc.: Board read 16 pct. ABV, but I still think it was 18 pct. ABV First time I saw this one and insta-purchased it. Had been wanting to try this despite not really thinking much of the 60 (3.45) and thinking the 90 (4.08) was just good. Probably would have paid up to $10 and locked it down at $8.50 for a 500-ml. pour. Hoping to be in the 4.20 range. Poured a deep gold hazy color with 3-to-4 fingers of white frothy-to-rocky head when I got it. Was quite dark in there, but appeared to be light bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class uneven foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50) Smelled kind of a lot of mush up front, More malty than hoppy, getting caramel, toffee, brown sugar, maple syrup, sappy pine and hints of Citra and Cascade. Smelled more like an American Strong Ale or an American Barleywine than I would have thought. (Smell - 4.00) Taste follows the nose as more of a strong ale or a barleywine, getting toffee, caramel, earthy leather, maple syrup, brown sugar, sappy pine, dates, raisins and dark fruits. Not picking up any specific hops. Crazy smooth for 18 (or 16) percent. (Taste - 4.25) Medium body. Sticky texture. Lively carbonation. Earthy finish. (Feel - 4.25) Wow. This was much better than I thought and much better than the 60 and the 90. Might have even underrated this a tad. (Overall - 4.25) 4.23 94 A-

Was lucky enough to try this on tap at one of the Dogfish Head restaurants in NVA. Have also aged in bottle for ~5 years and have several others that are sitting in my beer fridge from over the years. A strong IPA with all the right aroma and taste you could ask for in a beer of its class.

Bottle, shared with Albert. Pours a clear gold color, with a small, beige head. Vanilla and tangerines, with some syrup, butterscotch, and pine. Sweet and boozy, with a pretty strong bitterness. Heavy body, smooth, and a bit astringent. This is a solid, boozy, malty beer. Quite tasty.
