COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Sampled on tap at city beer. A big time ipa. Hops are not as extreme as advertised. Still just awesome and creative brew.

Copper pour, hazy, white head. Aroma is boozy, light malty cracker, floral, slightly fruity hops. Taste is honey, malty Carmel, floral, moderately bitter. Solid.

Aroma: fresh hop, liqueur-spicy, sherry, citrus. Taste: liquor with noticeable peppery bitterness, candied fruit, sherry, citrus. Awesome.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2017 Wow. Unexpected. More bourbon barrel quad than IPA. Novelty item like Prairie bomb. Worth trying but not something I’m going to wait in line for or throw my hands to the sky singing cherubic tunes.

Almost smelled like a gin when I opened the bottle. Smells sweet, juniper, lots of hop oils, alcohol. Taste is sweet, barley wine, tons of oiliness from the hops, bitter but balanced with tons of malt, some phenolic smokiness. Very nice beer, great depth, not what I expected. golden and endless white head. Lives up to reputation.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2017 On draft at Craft Beer Cellar! Aroma 6/10: sweet, maple, malty and very boozy aroma Appearance 3/5: medium amber with small frothy head Palate 3 /5: booze, booze, booze, with sticky resin mouthfeel Taste 6/10: hits you hard in the face with malty sweetness. Eventually some pine flavors develop though I still taste maple-y sap. Overall 14/20:For an imperial ipa sweetness is expected, though this takes it to another level. This reminds me more of a barleywine, without some of the complexity of barleywine. That’s what takes this down a notch for me. Final: 3.4

2017 Bottle. Beer very much different than 60 or 90 minute. As those two beers are much different also. Overpriced for what you are getting but probably worth trying once in your life? Aroma is pineapple and booze like. Thin fading head. Mouthfeel is thick. Flavor is strong booze some medicinal hop flavors and some tropical hop notes. But booze dominates everything. This bottle is about 4 months old. Maybe I should have tried it fresher. Thomas Creek Tripple IPA is more bitter in your face. This is more just booze and candied fruit and some medicinal properties.

Draft at Rogue. Aroma of caramel, booze and bitter citric hop. Taste has sweet caramel, booze, pine, glue and bitter hop. Expected more from this, it’s way too boozy.
