Standard looking IPA pour. Nice aroma here, some dry piny hop aroma and also some bready, sweet and funky elements. Prominent piny hop flavors upfront, followed by the breadlike malt flavors. Transforms fairly well into a rather woody pine finish. Pretty smooth. Thinner than I like though. Good, but if I want Dogfish Head, I’ll go for something slightly more risqué. UPDATED: MAR 16, 2011 Sampled with Stegosaurus and beerded_one at Newtown brewfest. Ok finally some one who blends the hoppyness just right and doesnt over do it. Clear golden pour with good ghead. Hoppy aroma (not too grassy) Flavor is slightly piney but not bad. This is a good IPA.
Draft 3/15/11 much better. Aggie80 (818) - Michigan, USA - OCT 20, 2006
Nice head and lacing to go with an orange brown pour and some carbonation. The aroma of hops is not as strong as one would expect from the flavor. Definitely hoppy with a subtle malt undertone. A very nice IPA. grimreeser (797) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 14, 2006
Pours a hazy orange with a little bit of head. Floral hops aroma, something in there that I’m not crazy about but can’t put a name to. Gets a bit better as it warms, but not nearly as good as the 90 minute. emjay (30) - Markham, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 13, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2006 Bottle. Pours with a very thin head. Aroma was of soap. Flavor was largely floral hops which took me a few sips to adjust to before I could enjoy it. A bit too floral and a bit too subtle for me to make it a regular, but decent nonetheless.

beer looks GREAT in the glass. aroma and flavor are lacking. has a bit of an aftertaste, i am somewhat new to this so i can not pinpoint. but decent beer. honestly dont know why it is rated so high sersdf (1020) - chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 12, 2006
surprisingly clear. pumpkin colored, 1/3" head lasts. aroma reminds me of founder’s centennial, pretty sharp hops. my first sip was unimpressive, and the more i drink the emptier it tastes. i see that it’s a 3.8 beer here, but there’s no way this is better than emmett’s victory pale. and i don’t buy the ipa/apa argument. i’ll rerate if i have a better one later, but i misjudged this when i had it a couple years ago. there’s some off taste i just don’t like. also way too dry lovemyipas (544) - nw burbs, Illinois, USA - OCT 12, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2007 not as good as the 90 minute but it is a very nice ipa. pours a nice orange hue with a descent size white head that is gone half way thru the pint and ok lacing. nice hoppyness to it but not like the 90 of course and i think the 120 is to over powering for those of you thinking of trying that. kind of a smokey grain taste and aroma to it not bad of an ipa just different, almost like two brothers ipa or 2ipa. enjoy! tomthompson89 (1982) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 10, 2006
Hoppy ohh hell yeah hoppy, nice orange haze colour, crisp refreshing. my summer beer, when i can get it Brigadier (3695) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - OCT 10, 2006

This was a bonus beer as part of a trade. It is also available locally though with so many great Wisconsin beers, I’ve never given it a try. It turned out to be very well done - I would not regret picking up a six pack of this in the middle of the summer. I can’t wait to try the 120 minute version that is currently cellaring.
Aroma / Appearance - A huge billowing white head exploded from the base of the glass. It eventually settled down to about a half-finger height. Underneath was a rust colored body with lively carbonation. The head never really faded until the glass was almost empty. Scents of pine, freshly mowed grass, cedar chips and dusty old bookshelves formed an intruiging combination of aromas.
Flavor / Palate - Butterscotch hard candy, lemon, hop resin and spruce were the first things I picked up. The next sip revealed caramel and candy corn with a very slight bitterness. The mouthfeel is clean and dry. Towards the end I picked up bittersweet baker’s chocolate, pine nuts and just a trace of hops. Without being over the top it was well balanced and enjoyable. There is a good reason this is among the highest rated IPAs on the site.
