4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I saw the blurb and I thought "Mere puffery sprinkled liberally with bollocks." and then I sampled:
Appears amber with a marshmallowy creamy white head that left good lace. I certainly did not expect the cake-like aromas that I got when I stuck my (sizeable) nose over the glass and snorted. Like sniffy sherry cask finished whisky along with mandarin, tangelo, cut spruce logs and green cones. Some fresh alcohols, but the predominance is toward glace citrus peel and all sorts of lovely rich dessert. The flavour was another leap altogether. Creamy oranges and green grasses matched with persistent sherbet carbonation and a silky body. It is unctuous and viscous and gives a good whack of bitterness. The finish is enduring and brings out fruit salad laced liberally with golden rum, lychee and creamy orange.
I loved everything about this beer except the emptiness of the bottle. Do I agree with the labelling? Not entirely as I think the Sauvignon Blanc comparison is off (I live near Marlborough and Sav is too light, too fresh). More like Viognier with its tropical fruit and nectarine, which is also present in the finish.
Just a remarkable, remarkable beer.
This is the best beer I have ever tasted. Drink it regularly, absolutely love it. Highest recommendation. Wow! ipa4me4u (33) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 20, 2017
Amazing how easy drinking this beer is for a 9%er. Heavy malt but not too sweet. Great winter beer. Planteman (2) - - SEP 5, 2017 does not count

Pours golden copper with off white lasting carbonation. Actually very smooth beginning with dry finish that really grows on you. Grumbo (3474) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - AUG 31, 2017
Bottle from a supermarket in New York, enjoyed in my hotel. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with a lasting bubbly/creamy off-white head. Aroma of hop, caramel, malt, light tropical and citrus fruit, plus cake with a light herbal and spice edge. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Finish is sticky, fruity, malty. Very good.

Bottle at thee tip tap room. Thx Luke ! Pours darker blonde to copper amber ,small White head. Smell is full, thick malty , bitter pine hoppy aroma. Taste is full, intensely bitter, full-on crunchy malts ( caramel, dark bread, intense crisp ) very damn nice ! Bitterness is also high, as to be expected. Extremely full in taste. Never out of balance, never turning at a characteristic of itself. Very nice approach to a rather extreme beer. euniceradio (555) - Worthington, Minnesota, USA - AUG 21, 2017
12 oz bottle to nonic pint. Pours clear deep gold, white sticky head. Aroma of fig, caramel, brown sugar, pine wood. Taste of same with light orange gummy candy, circus peanut, pepper, bergamot. Not the hop bomb DIPA of present day. Reads more like a barley wine by today’s standards. Great body and look. stef73 (651) - Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 15, 2017

Bottle 12oz. Clear amber with a creamy white head. Strong malty, caramel aroma (where are the hops???). Rich taste of caramel. Not sure what this IPA is supposed to taste like, but I miss the hoppy flavour. It has a subtle bitter finish, but that’s about it.
