(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm 28 Apr) Colour is orange or pale amber, with little head. Lovely nose dominated by cloudberries, a bit sweet, like mom’s homemade cloudberry jam. Taste is rather sweet and fruity, dominated by the wheat rather than the berries, but the berries are definitely there. Becomes drier towards the finish. The abv gives it a warming bite and a long finish. Very nice and refreshing, rather complex. But the taste didn’t quite match the lovely aroma. MrWalker (926) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 29, 2006

Clear, almost shining, bright golden/amber. Fresh summery aroma from the cloudberries. Very refreshing summers drink, I would believe. Nice fruity balance and a refreshingly bitter aftertaste.

Twist) Slightly hazy amber color with no head. A bit sweet aroma of cloudberries. A buttery, mildly acidic cloudberry flavor with wheat and vanilla hints. No signs of alcohol. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated, slightly sticky and warming palate. Interesting, but not something you’d drink all year round.
Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear golden, minimal head. The cloudberry aroma is somewhat marmelady and subdued. Sweet and near full bodied. Fruity and rich with evident bold wheat malt character. There is some bitterness, but not much. It’s interesting but the sweetnews of the wheat malt hides a little of the cloudberry character.axilla (962) - New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 17, 2006
Apparently the owner of Oliver Twist brought some of Akkurat’s Cantillon Soleil de Minuit over to the US and let some extreme brewers taste it. DFH decided they wanted to make something similar, but a good harvest of north Swedish cloudberries had to be awaited. This happened in 2005, and then cloudberries was brought over by Oliver Twist. Only one keg was saved and made available for the Swedish pub.
Thanks Eric! Poured a hazy light golden/brown color body with a frothy white head. The aroma is light and sweet with blueberries and apples present. The flavors were also very fruity with blueberries (complete with a little piece of stem), green apples, mild pineapple, and some breadiness in the finish. Really surprised to see the alcohol content being 8.5%. If nothing else, I am now very intrigued as to what a cloudberry tastes like.

Growler thanks to eric sampled at the imperial night at Axilla’s. Pours surprisingly clear with a thin head- color is of dark applejuice. Aroma is slightly tart, fruity, lightly spicy, some peach, and sweet. Light peach like flavor, some apple-like qualities, a clean fresh herbal spice, and some sweetness in the middle, but finishes pretty dry and tart. Somewhat light mouthfeel and didnt seem to be anywhere near 8.5% abv. Pretty good overall. I woudl like to actually taste a cloudberry someday to see what they taste like. whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 11, 2006
Growler sample courtesy of egajdzis. Clear, deep golden body with a foamy white head. Aroma is of cloudberries I imagine, but don’t really know because I have no clue what a cloudberry is. Has a green apple quality to it. Flavor is rather herbal with some lingering honey-like sweetness and yeasty esters. Hop character is woody and herbal. Moderate acidity and bitterness. Light and easy-drinking considering the strength. Unique and interesting. egajdzis (6580) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2005
Poured a hazy, amber color, with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of bananas, spicy cloves, sweet caramel malt, and blueberries (I guess cloudberries). Taste of more banana and clove, it sure was a wheat beer! Also included were citrus fruits, coconuts, grassy hops, light sticky malts, green apples, and a tart cloudberry finish. I wonder how many yeast strains were used, because I could have sworn I tasted the DFH strain in here, but the bananas and cloves were abundant. The taste, was fantasticly complex, but would have been incredible if it just came together a little better.
