Pours cloudy yellow with fluffy white head. Nose is fruity with berry/cherry-like character, I guess a bit of currant. Flavor has a subtle tartness with medium body. Almost a bit musty. Sweet then tart, citrusy and spicy. Finishes with a slight bitterness.

Bottle at Papsø. Hazy orange coloured with a medium sized white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of black currants. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel and black currants. Sweet finish.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is dense black currant, fruity and citric to acidic. Light oxidised malt base, solid rich black currant fruity. Mild lingering fruity finish.

Bottle, 33 cl, at Papsø, thanx. 2003 vintage. Hazy golden, thick creamy white head, good retention. Nose is slightly fruity, a little dusty, quite yeasty almost doughish, definitely bready. Sweet, velvety malty flavor, very smooth, spicy, light bitter finish.Tart fruityness. Can’t detect the black currants, but very very nice mouthfeel - is this really 10 years old?

Bottle, 2003. Hazy light orange with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is oxidized cardboard and light sherry notes along with light berries. Tastes is medium sweet with hardly any bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, medium/high carbonation.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of SpringsLicker. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Sweet berry nose with a slightly oxidized edge. Medium body, excessive carbonation. Sweet berry accents even if I cannot particularly pick out blackcurrant. Clearly this is old, but it’s still somehow interesting and enjoyable. 220413

Had this years ago. Was the first dogfish beer I didn’t really like. Have determined since then that it must be the currants as I still haven’t found a beer with currants that works for me.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint. Dark gold with a fluffy white head and some extremely lively bubbles running fast up the glass. A very fruity (berry-like) aroma with earthy notes. Taste is sourish from the currants which dominate this brew. Sweet toffee and caramel balance the acidity of the fruit. Hops tie it all together. Mouthfeel is pleasant and creamy. Carbonation is very present and fill the mouth with flavor. Alcohol is there too. Overall this is a well balanced and good beer. Great for summertime afternoons as an aperitif, or with a mandarin salad.

November 18, 2011 - 750ml bottle shared by swoopjones with me, blankboy and rudolf. As Pearl Jam Anniversary beer. Pale clear gold, pretty much no head. Aroma started a little unpleasantly vegetal, it settled to tart thick fruity malt, a bit sugary. Taste - currants, some floral bitterness, some warming alcohol presence, just a little bit of tartness to it, too sweet to let the black currants really zing with the acidity. Light and slick on the tongue, some acidity, not much carbonation, finishes quickly - leaves a dry, slightly sour boozy aftertaste. Not overwhelmed.

When this beer first appeared several years ago (around 10) I really enjoyed this beer. I don’t know if the recipe has changed over the years, but today it’s much fruitier than I remembered. A fruity aroma but no malt or hop aroma and little currant. Finish has some citrus. I remember liking this beer a lot, that’s why I had to get another bottle, but, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping. If you like fruity beer, this is for you.

Gift. First off I’m not a fruit beer lover, but it’s Dogfish and it’s a rating. Red/ orange pour with big notes of fruit. Synthetic fruity taste with a tart finish. It was good for the style.
