3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks to ben4321,
Aroma is super sweet..smells of raisins. Nice copper color, and a bit of head. Nice and foamy on the palate. Overall quite an interesting beer, but I a word it’s sweet.
A fast dissipating white head on a translucent caramel body. Nose is a treat with zesty fruit, some acidity, caramel, honey and grain. Initial effervescence is so active you can hear it. The taste is a great blend of rich berries, citrus, grapes, orange, spice, honey, apple and cider-like taste and acidity. Caramel is in there aswell. Rich, sweet, but fresh and not cloying. Well blended. Drinking history has never been this good. beachbum25 (1092) - Powellville, Maryland, USA - MAY 13, 2017
Sampler at the brewpub-Amber pour w/a minimal head. Malty, fruity aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, & some peat. Long full finish, enjoyable. chrisv10 (17793) - DENMARK - APR 11, 2017
Bottle, 8.5%. Clear dark amber with small tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, spices, herbs and honey. Flavour is malt, caramel, spices, herbs, honey, little over carbonated, sweet, little sour, little citric, little dry, notes of alcohol and a little bitter. chinchill (5073) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 5, 2017
2013 750 ml bottle served in a large Scottish tulip glass.
Wonderful aroma and flavor with lots of dark fruit notes and subtle spice notes. Near neutral bitter-sweet balance, although bitterness picks up in the aftertaste.
Overall: interesting, complex, well balanced and surprisingly similar to a modern Belgian strong dark ale. Dacrza (995) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JUL 28, 2016
DATE: July 28, 2016... OCCASION: watching our wedding videos (thanks for sending the VCR, Jer!) while celebrating fifteen blessed years of marriage with Shana... GLASSWARE: Affligem goblet.... a dark copper, almost brownish opaque body challenges daylight... the off-white fizzles to a pencil-thin ring, while small clouds circle inside... apple, sour apple, grapefruit, vanilla, honey, grapes, and saltiness--safe to say, I haven’t smelled something like this before, although the aroma loosely approximates freshly unwrapped cassette tapes from the eighties... in summation, quite a cornucopia to process... upon first sip, surprisingly active in the mouth... medium-bodied, warming, and dry, with the honeyed finish that provides depth and length to the taste... demonstrative apple, honey and citrus and sour mash... ginger, raisins, dry nuts, and phenol hints develop a complex, almost unworldly profile, one that encourages sip upon sip... a beer worthy of the our milestone anniversary, I cannot help but think this beer is challenging in all the right ways, stirring fruit, spice and lesser elements to develop a taste akin to a Belgian ale but with drastically different draw and depth.. manageable at its 8.5% but formidable as well, with its spiciness erupting with every sip... on sale at A&P Liquors? yes, please...

On tap. Pours a clear light brown bronze with little off-white head and minimal lacing. Smells exactly like a saison. Tastes sweet, some unusual flavors, flowery, honey, actually very nice. The bitterness is mild and the aftertaste is extremely pleasant. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUL 19, 2016
From notes. Split this one with Steve at Dan’s Downtown Tavern on July 01. The pour is a muddy amber color with a couple golden hues shining through. There is an incredibly fizzy white head that falls down and reminds me of a soda. That’s what it looks like. A beer shouldn’t fizz like this. The aroma is incredibly sweet. There is a lot of dark fruit and spiciness to it, like it’s a dark fruit-inspired saison. A definite breadiness exists, and a light Belgian malt. The flavor is dark fruits and Belgian yeast. It’s just really Belgian ale dominated. The mouth feel is terrible. It’s thin, yet syrupy, with a very effervescent carbonation that let’s the Belgian tendencies just jump off of the tongue. It doesn’t end quick enough. This isn’t my jam. Not by a long shot. ABUSEDGOAT (2770) - California, USA - JUN 4, 2016
Amber colored, minimal head. Aroma is strong honey with sweet malts, light raisin, lightly spicy. Medium bodied, sweet honey flavor dominates with a touch of raisin. ffbot (420) - Oakland, California, USA - MAY 8, 2016
Leave is to Dogfish. Again you smell and taste every damn ingredient, which is amazing. It’s a great beer, it’s perhaps a bit not my style thought because it tastes kinda regular after a while Evilkniamhel (959) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 28, 2016
Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk dregs run. Pours clear Amber. Nose of sherbet lemons, moss, peaches. Honey, loads of fruit, nutty on the palate.
