3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The Black & Blue pours brilliant reddish amber color, with fine carbonation. The off-white foam rises to one finger thick, but dissipates fairly quickly. From the bottom of my Chimay glass, there’s a constant stream of carbonation rising throughout this glass. Even as I’m pouring I can smell some of the fruity esters rising from the brew.
The nose is dominated by an overwhelming amount of fruit, I can’t pick up any sense of hops at all. There’s just a little bit of candy-malt in the background, but the nose is heavily controlled by the fruitiness from the raspberries and blueberries.
The first few sips are pretty intense, and by intense, I mean super fruity and sweet. The first little bit of the Black and Blue are really, really fruit driven, and almost framboise lambic-ish. After I get a few sips under my belt and it warms up a little bit, I can pick out more of the complexity of the brew. There’s now a significant malty character in the background, and the alcohol is coming through more and more as it warms to room temperature.
At first, I was significantly unimpressed by this Black and Blue from Dogfish. After a few sips in, I’m coming around a bit. It’s pretty drinkable, relatively light in body, and probably pretty mass-appealing. I’m still not in love with the Black and Blue, but it is growing on my slowly.
Bottle. Pours a clear, golden beer with a pinkish hue in it and a medium sized white head on top. Aroma has notes of tropical fruits, forest fruits and apples, some bready yeast strains and a bit of booze in the nose. Flavor is soft, the tropical fruits return, a nice malty backbone and there is a very nice yeasty presence in there, giving this beer a very subtle, easy going light sweet finish with a vague hint of tartness in there. Very well balanced, easy drinking despite being 10% and very interesting. Nice one! beerzrus (11) - - FEB 10, 2017
Solid berry aroma. A red and blue body with a thin head that has a slight red tinge. Taste of raspberry tartness smoothed out by hint of blueberry. Dry, crisp and refreshing. Some Alcohol present chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 20, 2017

1 year old bottle. Murky amber with an average off white head. Aroma is blueberry, blackberry, wheat, and oak. Taste is blackberry, blueberry, oak, dark stone fruit, and wheat. Semi dry, good beer. fiery1 (1587) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 24, 2016
750ml bottle @ home. Bottled 2015.03.07. Pours a hazy purple dark amber colour with a finger or two white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Nose is yeasty/bread, blueberry, and blackberry jam. Flavour is moderately sweet, jam like berry flavours, and a yeasty bready feel. Considering the high abv this brew has it drinks very smooth. Tasty a fruit beer!

Bottle, pours hazy orange with small sized head. Seem a little flat Aromas and flavor are belgian fruit, candy sugar, blueberry, sweet malt, and vanilla bean. Medium to fuller bodied beer.
On tap. Pours a hazy red copper with a thin off-white head and decent lacing. Smells of berries and alcohol. Tastes a bit of aspirin, sweet, berry, citrus. Very juice-like. Surprisingly low alcohol in the taste. Minor bitterness and a lasting berry aftertaste. Larry_Spurgeon (15) - Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA - JUL 19, 2016
Drank with Uncle Matt. Bought at Majestic in Flagstaff. I think it's a 2015 bottling, couldn't read the printed date well. Cloudy reddish brown pour with a light weak head. Aroma light malt and sweet berry... Blah, blah, blah...OK taste, slightly sweet, with a little fruity with a bitter twang. So just OK. At $14.99 25.4 oz bottle, not worth it. Matt said it wasn't bad, didn't like the "dirty" aftertaste. mintzmeet (457) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 1, 2016
Oohee!! Love this. Nice red color. Great flavor, tastes like a lambic. Almost some raspberry flavor. Good stuff.
