The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Bottle. Clear amber color with a small white / off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, fruit, heavy hoppy, pine, oak, alcoholic. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. I think it is a cross between barley wine and IIPA. But very nice :o))

From tap at Sunset Grill.Pours clear and golden orange with a small creamy and off-white head. Aroma is roasted malty and light breadish malty. Pine wood herbal hoppy. Dense malty, caramelish and alcohol just beneath. Ends bitter and sweet toasted caramelish. With a bit of an alcohol warmth.

A hazy orange beer with a dense orange head. The aroma is sweet fruity on an alcoholic backdrop. The flavor is fruity with mango and passionfruit being most dominant, leading to an end, that mixes in some wood notes.

[email protected] Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Golden colour with small white head. Aroma is a lot of nectar, tropical fruit juice and mild wooden notes. Flavour is being quite much the same. A really strong fruit juicy beer, which hides the alcohol rather well. Pleasant!

Bottled, thanks JCW! Clear amber, small head. Sweet with notes of passion fruit and lychee. There’s candy sugar and peppery alcohol as well as plum brandy and some fruity apples. Intriguing and complex, but too sweet.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Soft, sweetish aroma with lots of oak. Very full body with lots of caramel and roasted malt. Some sherry-like notes. Extremely alcoholic finish that even the solid body cannot really uphold. Hoppy finish, but not overly so. Thanks to Degarth for sharing. 030406

26th May 2008. Juicy hops that are never too bitter. Very well joined up with vanilla and woody oak tones. A lip smacking beer!

Draught at Pizzeria Paradiso, courtesy of RJ & Rob, thank you gentlemen. Golden orange color, medium off white head, massive lacing. Aroma of grass, hay, straw, pine. Taste of freshly mown grass, hint of citrus, good balance. Easily the best beer of the night, good stuff.
