The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jacksons rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

[email protected], from NYC, USA. Pungent aroma with honey and slight bourbon. Darker orange color with minimal white head. Clear liquid. Strong, balanced taste with sweet malts, raisin and caramel malt. A hint of toffee. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, great taste though could have more sturdy and malty feeling.

12oz bottle - pours an orangey amber color with a medium soapy off white head. Kinda weird aroma with whiffs of bread, pine, caramel, herbaceousness and subtle oak. Interesting flavors....caramel, pine, oaky wood, sourdough and a lingering funky bitterness.

Pours a nice amber, wooden color. Nose - vanilla, wood, sweet malts, raisins. Taste - much of the same. Pretty smooth brew for its ABV%. Fuller body with a sticky sweet texture, almost too sweet for me. Personally this is a sipper, and one is more than enough.

I never rated Dogfish beers because I didnt want to put out too much negativity but this one, I actually enjoyed in 2009-2010. Pours a brown color with an amber tint and average head. Smell is bourbonn oak, plum, caramel malt, orange skin and toffee. Medium to fuller body with less than avg carb. Couldnt drink this now but enjoyed it back in the day

Bottle. Amber in colour, white and small head. Aroma is malty with light fruitiness, not much of hops left just some pine, finish is oaky. Full bodied, the beer is medium sweet with caramel, biscuits and solid bitterness. Oily texture, soft carbonation, light warming effect in finish. Really good Barleywine-ish beer.
