To be honest this was a stretch beer for me. Not a style I typically enjoy but the wine/grape notes made this so cloyingly sweet I couldn’t drink it. Not my favorite. No offense to Dogfish, much respect but this was a miss for me.
750 ml bottle.
Pours with a hazy light copper body. Fine textured white head with good retention and excellent lacing.
A lot of effort and trouble went into making this beer which I was eager to try out of curiosity. To my surprise, it’s a pleasant beer in every respect, with a particularly good mouthfeel. Lively, medium-high but soft carbonation. Refreshing, lightly spicy and fruity.

vtg blackberry log, Bottle with Annie baby in 2010, Pours orange with small to medium top. Aroma of banana bread, sugar, apples, dark grape and toasty hops. Body is medium to fuller. Pretty warming in the stomach/chest. Alright for what it is but they need to make sessionable hoppy beers instead of dumb, weird shit all the time. TEJA (3056) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 7, 2016
Short white head. Clear golden color. Initial fruity aroma from hawthorn and grapes. A bit honey and wiener malt taste. Warming alcohol. tfontana (971) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 18, 2016
Bottle pour into tulip glass from Cigarette City. Appearance is cloudy orange with huge amounts of sediment in suspension; 1/2 finger-width white fizzy head with poor retention, decent sparkle, minimal lacing. Aroma is sort of like a wine cooler--a cross between champagne and grape juice. Taste is similar to aroma--not as sweet as a full on Welch’s grape juice but strong grape--some light spiciness, yeast, late grains. Palate is medium bodied with foamy texture, soft carbonation and dry grape finish. Overall, I always give kudos to Dogfish Head for pushing boundaries and I’m sure I would have reached for this in a second 9,000 years ago, but today I have other options I’d prefer.

On the Brick Store Pub cellared sampler. Interesting combination of grape and honey. Sweet. Medium full body. Not sure I want it again, but fun to sample. BeerdedDave (1707) - Beckley, USA - MAR 31, 2016
golden to light amber color; fruity aroma; fruity, spicy flavor; spicy up front with a grape aftertaste; a bit like a saison with grape notes; I might prefer it a bit less fruity
