Another beer from dogfish head that offers nothing else but sweet and sticky syrup. Dodgrblu (751) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 18, 2016
12 ounce bottle from BevMo Sacramento, aroma is dried fruit, prune, boozy mouthfeel. PhillyCraft (7228) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 21, 2016
With Pat, Pours a hazy red color with creamy top. Aroma of vanilla, candy sugar, oak, dough, and maple syurp. Full bodied with a bunch of thick syrup. Too cloyingly sweet for me these days rondphoto (4448) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - OCT 18, 2016
bottle @ Belmont Party Supply / Dayton OH --- Aroma of molasses and malt. Cloudy amber brown color, off-white head that drops to a thin cover, stripes of lace. Taste is strong alcoholic malt that has dark fruitcake fruit. It moves through medium fizz to a finish that shows alcohol growth rather than bittering. Very strong, a little too much to satisfy in more than 6oz doses. Doesn’t work for me. MaBeer1972 (2059) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 21, 2016
Bottle from Julio’s. Poured into a snifter. A deep russet amber with a very thick light tan head. Very nice looking. Sweet earthy spice aroma. Flavor is on the sweet side with earthy spice notes. Slight bit of sweet vanilla. Somewhat balanced, but still a lot of sugar on the finish.

12 oz bottle from Elizabeth Station. Bottled 22-Jan-2016. Pours an opaque golden copper. Aroma is smokey, sweet maple and oak notes. Taste and aftertaste are pretty similar with boozy and hoppy bitterness. Good balanced beer. ehaak26 (524) - - AUG 21, 2016
I love scotch, so the peat-smoked barley was a great touch for me. The vanilla and maple syrup add nice complexity to this ale. Linnet (1832) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - AUG 14, 2016
Smoke, juniper, toffee, oaky, caramel, alcohol, herbal.
Deep amber colour, small beige head.
Big sweetness, lightly peaty, lightly bitter and lightly salty, ABV evident, lots of herbal notes.
Fullbodied, thick feel, soft carbonation, sweet and peaty finish.
A tad too sweet. ChadPolenz (1819) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - AUG 3, 2016
2015 BJCP Category: 32B Specialty Smoked Beer (base style: 17D English Barleywine)ADfan (870) - Orange County, California, USA - JUL 18, 2016
AROMA: Peaty malt is prominent. Some dark fruit, vanilla/oak, and alcohol. 8/12
APPEARANCE: Very murky body; rather ugly shade of rusty orange/brown. Small, off white head mostly dissipates; no lacing. 1/3
FLAVOR: Takes a few sips to get used to as the palette seems to change on every swig. Seems like an English barleywine at the core with a rich sweetness of dark malt and dark fruit. Vanilla and oak chips complement each other to give it a slight candy taste. Finishes with a fairly strong peat smoke sensation. Well balanced with smoke acting as a flourish rather than the main attraction. 17/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-full body; low CO2 but not viscous nor sticky. 11% ABV is well hidden imparting subtle warmth as it goes down. Remarkably clean aftertaste. 3/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: An amazing brewing accomplishment considering all that’s in this beer. Delectable, but not quite mind-blowing. 8/10
TOTAL SCORE: 38/50

The beer pours a reddish color with a small head. Aroma has bourbon up front followed by some sweetness and figs. The taste has roasted plums, licorice, mild booze and some raisins. Very complex beer with a smooth finish.
