Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Clear 14.75-oz. porter/stout glass From: Bine & Vine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $4.31 (10 pct. off) Purchased: Feb. 26, 2016 Consumed: April 10, 2016 Misc.: Bottled on Jan. 22, 2016 Got this with a big purchase at Bine & Vine on Feb. 26. This was the last beer left to drink. Didnt know much about it, but liked what it said on the bottle. Not necessarily a big fan of Dogfish Head, but willing to give this one a shot. Poured an auburn, copper color with two fingers of rocky, khaki-tan head. Lots of small bubbles coming to the top of the glass. Average wet, foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Very good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.75) Smelled roasty malts, roasted nuts, oaky notes, maple walnut, light toffee and hints of sweet caramel. (Smell - 3.50) Taste was richer and more complex than the nose. Getting roasty malts, smoky oak, dark maple walnut, toffee, vanilla beans, smoky wood, dark fruits and hints of molasses. Does not taste like 11 pct. ABV. Very good. (Taste - 4.25) Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, smoky finish. (Feel - 4.00) Really liked this, basically as it hit my lips. Would like to see this aged for a bit. Probably had this a bit too cold as well. (Overall - 4.00) 3.97 89 B+

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a fluffy head. Aromas are faint malt, fruit, grass, a bit of leather. Flavors are roasty malts, dark fruit, raisin, cocoa, toffee, molasses, grass and bready tones. With each sip, another flavor appears. Very well rounded. Very noticeable alcohol presence. Slightly sticky mouthfeel, but otherwise surprisingly light. Low carbonation. Wonderfully complex. Boozy, malty and fruity. This is a delicious ale.

Pour is a still, almost but not quite clear red with light purple and orange hints to it. Smell is maple, vanilla, oak, citrus, maybe a slight pine or grass. Taste is rich complex vanilla, balancing off maple, rich full bodied malt and a long, vanilla finish

Reminds me a bit of an Oktoberfest, maybe one aged in oak (which isnt a bad idea).

Pours a hazy medium reddish brown. Aromas of light fruit, hops, caramel malts, kind of medicinal. Flavor is to strong for me, big alcohol taste, malty with a spicy taste.

Heavy, heavy body. Cloudy pour. Flavor is a mix of smoked barley, mild vanilla, and a metallic unwelcome addition. Mildly carbonated finish.

bottle pour hazy copper with moderate ecru head that fades to small quickly. Nose raisin, Belgian candy, fall fruit, and light earthiness. Taste starts with sweeter flavors, maple, candy sugar, and Belgian ester. Then hint of the juniper and some late bitterness and mild heat from the alcohol. Ends with the smoked peat. Whole lot going on in this one.
