Typical flavor characteristics of DFH...OVERLY SWEET!!! Color is vibrant orange/brown with minimal head. Aroma is sticky sweet with a flavor to match. Oak, vanilla, caramel, and toffee...definitely a high caliber brew but nothing from them (other than the 120 Minute IPA) has had the "shock and awe" factor. Premium price...try anything from this brewery and youll see the similarities.

2009 Vintage on draft at Capones. Pours slightly opaque medium to dark brown with minimal head that hangs around the edge of the glass. Aroma is mild fruity ketone, corn sugar, booze, stove top hard candy like my grand mom made, mild ash and slight esters. Taste is similar with a moderate smoke flavor that fades quickly with a touch of oxidation. Finish is pleasant with mild tart and citrus flavors.

Was not sure what to expect from this on since I have not had any barley wines. If it was a beer I would say it was a bit too boozie and flat but I think that is how it is mean to be.

With Pat, Pours a hazy red color with creamy top. Aroma of vanilla, candy sugar, oak, dough, and maple syurp. Full bodied with a bunch of thick syrup. Too cloyingly sweet for me these days
