Pours a dark brown color with a thick off white head that fades but leaves good lacing. Smells of chocolate, roasted malts molasses and slight citrus tastes of molasses, toffee, coffee, chocolate and grapfruit with a slight hop bite. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with a semi dry finish. Dogfish Head makes great beers this one is pretty good. Glad its back in Washington after a year or so of not finding it anywhere around here.

Pours dark brown, smooth and translucent, cream head, spotted lacing. Aroma of roasted barley, chocolate and brown sugar. Tastes medium roast bitter, roasted barley, chocolate, brown sugar, fruity hops come in the after taste, and balance this ale very well. Medium body, soft carbonation, very easy to drink, lot of lingering roasted taste. Very enjoyable.

Bottle at Tap Craft Beer Bar, Robertson Quay, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is roasted caramel malt, grassy light fruit hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a dry grassy, red berry fruit, nettle, spicy, molasses, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. I'd have preferred a little more carbonation but I guess I'm just a black IPA junkie. Not sure this is a brown Ale tho!!

From Mar 2007 Pours from 12oz bottle a clear deep brown with a small head of foam that doesn't last long and doesn't leave any lacing. The smell is of roasted malt and some citrus hops. The taste has huge roasted malt up front that smacks you in the face...just as I remember it. ;^) As I take more sips, there's a more than ample infusion of hop bitterness and some dark fruit notes. Man, this is great stuff! So much roastiness and there's some toffee also hitting my taste buds. And just a little bit of warming in the back of my throat that reminds me to sip and take my time with this gem. What a Brown Ale! Bottom line: This is a top notch example of the style that is a *must* try.

355ml bottle (Ebrowarium.pl) (5:4:4:2:9=2.4)
Very savoury aroma, soy, but also very sweet. Dark red, persistent small tight beige head. Dead palate, slickish from sugars, carbonation does nothing to lift it. Nasty soapy taste, some savoury soy mushroom and sugar mess. Only plus is that it covers the 7.2% behind the mess, but deep down this is a terrible ale.
