On tap at brewery. Pours a hazy golden color with a dense head and light lacing. Has a floral hop aroma with sweet and citrus friut undertones. Flavor is big bitter and earthy hoppiness with sweet fruit and doughy malt. Big hop flavor is not too overpowering and doesn’t take away from the beer. Medium bodied with a slightly dry finish. My first Belgian Double IPA, and what an experience. Served on tap at the brewpub. Nicely undertoning the hops. They are there, but skillfully used. Better as it warmed with more spice and graininess popping up. At 8.9, this is a heavy hitter, about an hour after you finish it. beachbum25 (1092) - Powellville, Maryland, USA - OCT 17, 2009
On tap @ Rehoboth Brewpub-Hazy golden color w/a moderate white head & good lacing. Floral hop aroma. Had a definite floral hop flavor on the front end mixed w/some spice. Did have a finish of sweetness, yeast, & wheat/dread dough. La Chouffe is a good comparison, but this has a little more hop to it. Solid brew, not quite as hoppy as some of their other IPA’s. Draft @ rehoboth. Poured into a pint glass, small head with an orangish color. Aroma is spicey, earthy and hoppy. Taste is intially super bitter but earthy and spicey in the after taste. As it warmed up a little wheat and belgian yeast came through. Dry.... Medium texture. Overall a nice beer. CanIHave4Beers (4184) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - OCT 12, 2009
Draft at the brewpub.
Pours with a solid medium head with a hazy golden color. The aroma starts off a little weird and stinky... not funky just stinky, this is quickly eclipsed by lots of fruitiness and fresh hops with plenty of pineapple character. The flavor is fruity with some grapefruit and pineapple with some well complimentary banana, there is a fairly intense bitterness and the sweetness is well controlled. tasty!
