Midas Touch Golden Elixir is a beverage based on the residue found on the drinking vessels in King Midas’ tomb. Our recipe highlights the known ingredients of barley, white Muscat grapes, honey and saffron. Somehwere between a beer, wine and mead, this smooth, dry ale will please with Chardonnay or I.P.A. drinker alike.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium, fizzy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, honey, grapes, floral and spice. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, honey, grapes, spice and bitter grass with a dry, alcohol finish. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, has a mead-like quality to it.

Pours golden and translucent with lively carbonation and a nice 3-finger white head with a faint aroma of bread, hay and yeast. It tastes mildly bitter from the saffron and alcohol and also tastes of sweet hay from the saffron, honey and muscat grapes. It’s slightly sweet with a dry spicy finish. It’s warming and medium-bodied with a sticky palate of soft carbonation. An ancient elixir indeed.

12floz bottle, BOD: 05.09.2017, $3.50 for a single, poured into a mug glass appearing golden with clarity. Wildflower and honey notes in the nose translates to green-grains, and semi-sweet honey taste. Heavy texture, and alcohol content is evident. I can see this as being a beer-mead hybrid, not so much wine-like though.

MarcoDL (5029) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 25, 2017
Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of malt, honey and flowers. Taste has sweet malt, honey, caramel and floral esters. Too much honey for me.
