4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2017 vintage, pricey at $9.99 for 12 ounces. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Aroma is rich with vanilla and wood. Tastes of malt, vanilla, and oak. Touch of booze in there too. This is complex and delicious brew, thumbs way up! Excellent.
12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 6/15/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, cherry, berry, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and oak notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, cherry, berry, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light hop/roast/char bitterness and oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, licorice, dark fruit, light molasses/smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and oak flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slight slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, oak tannins, and dryness. Mildly increasing warmth of 17%, with no booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing oak aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and oak flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the enormous ABV. Quite a bit better than the base beer IMO. Extremely rich dark/roast/bready malts with balanced vanilla/oak presence; and not as intensely dark fruity. Much silkier body from the oak aging. A highly enjoyable offering. DroolYeast (1863) - Odder, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2018
Bottle thanks to Erik. Aroma of booze, oak, chocolate, liquorice, brown malt, roasted malt. Black with tan head. Taste is moderate sweet, boozy, malty, chocolate, oak. Full body, oily feel and very boozy warm finish. HKdIPA (884) - HONG KONG - FEB 14, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 14, 2018 Bottle from QClub at home on Valentine’s. Rich black pour with dissipating fine light tan head. Aroma is big alcohol, marshmallow, wood, chocolate, dried fruit. Very big. Taste is somewhat dominated by alcohol burn but also has vanilla marshmallow, dried dark fruit, deep bitterness, chocolate, especially on the finish. Velvety palate. Alcohol is definitely over the top but it almost works. Definitely worth a try. Very good huge imperial stout. stevoj (6047) - Boise, Idaho, USA - FEB 7, 2018
Bottle from Whole Foods-Sonoma. Silky, oily black pour, small tan head fades to a tiny ring. Aroma is sweet, molasses and brown sugar, marshmallows. Taste brings some of the roast grain bitterness, more of the vanilla sweetness, and plenty of alcohol heat. Bittersweet and burn, yet smooth. I have not had a better beer. I like stouts and double Ipas. And 2xstouts. This beer is the best. I know my stuff. Best beer Ive had. Craig

Aroma: Medium-high chocolate, vanilla, Medium woody/barrel, alcohol.
Appearance: Pitch black body. Small, brown head, very fine bubbles. Low retention.
Flavour: Medium molasses, apricot alcohol. Medium bitterness. Medium-light woody, vanilla. Dry finish with lingering apricot.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Warming. Medium-low carbonation, smooth.
Overall: Good aromas. The alcohol flavour is very strong, overpowering the other flavours. The other flavours do make a small appearance in the background.
12 oz bottle, poured. Thanks Esme and Lambert!

12oz bottle from Jack, thanks bro. Poured a syrupy pitch black with a smaller tighter foamy beige head. Aroma of vanilla, tobacco, soy sauce, cola, ice cream, burnt malts. Flavor follows suit but still way better than normal WWS. Loads of vanilla pudding, chocolate muffins, burnt toast, cola and soy sauce. Big thick bidy with lots of heat throughout. Better than the regular and less sweet even with the vanilla addition IMO. brewjeria (10) - San Antonio, - JAN 16, 2018
Ultra overhyped, overrated beer in my opinion. Dogfish Head is hit or miss. I found this bottle at a grocery store for way too much! A dark hue with zero head or lace. The nose is of faint caramel. It has the booze but lacks a body. It just feels like from top to bottom a flat aged stout but without its complexity. The taste had me wondering when the flavor would happen, but it never does or did. Huge disappointment! jimhilt (2643) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 16, 2018
Pours a one finger chocolate head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Heavy bodied and medium carbonation. Nose is vanilla/raisin. Flavor follows raisin and vanilla, the very high ABV (16-17.5%) is barely noticeable, finish very smooth not cloying. Expensive - $10.95 for one 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA. jsnicholas (736) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2018
Bottle (12oz). Black with thin brown head. Aroma is vanilla and sweet. Taste is strong vanilla. This is a sweat version of WWS. I prefer the original version.
