COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we’ve now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackened stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

2017 vintage, pricey at $9.99 for 12 ounces. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Aroma is rich with vanilla and wood. Tastes of malt, vanilla, and oak. Touch of booze in there too. This is complex and delicious brew, thumbs way up! Excellent.

Typical appearance for the style. Brown with a thin khaki colored head. Dessert like sweetness, but well balanced for such a big beer. Oak and vanilla compliment the base beer and even adds to it. This is a very nice sipper. Although DFH has a lot of misses and weird combinations that don't necessarily work, this does very well.

Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate and alcohol. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured thick, black and oily with a medium sized dark brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was red wine, vanilla, rum, molasses and brandy. The flavor was incredibly strong vanilla, brandy, oak, rum, red wine, toasty malts, molasses and more vanilla. Incredibly long finish of brandy, red wine and vanilla. Thick, full and smooth. Boozy but it is 17%. As it warms the booziness and vanilla get overwhelming.

Crazy good stout! Sweet vanilla aroma. Taste is like a dessert beer. Very sweet and vanilla on the front end. With a nice Smokey, woody finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle into a pint glass. Pours black, with a small brown head. Nose is vanilla, anise, and cocoa. Taste follows. A huge beer, Not as sweet as it could have been, fortunately. Fairly well balanced sipper. One is enough.

9/30/17. 12oz bottle domed solo in a hotel room, purchased from Beer:30 San Marco earlier that evening. Oily black pour with a nice light tan head that sticks. Rich aroma, vanilla apparent, oak subtle, dark malts and dark fruits. Good flavor, rich, but surprisingly quaffable, dark fruits, dark malts, coffee, oak, vanilla apparent again. Tasty!

Really surprised by how little vanilla I got in this. Sweet for sure but still drinkable. Doesn't quite seem as strong as 17. Probably would have said 12. Eh. Once is enough...I seem to be saying this a lot with dogfish Head these days.

Rich black color; Medium to heavy slightly creamy body; Aroma of smoky sweet malt, rich vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate, licorice, & some alcohol; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, nice vanilla, chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, some spice, and alcohol; Warm boozy finish; Like the vanilla - intense & nice sipper.
