pitch black with beige head, it has coffee aroma blended with caramel and chocolately nose. the flavor is vanilla with chocolate background, very caramelly finish. BeerHawk (1811) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - AUG 19, 2008
Bottle. Poured black with a thin tan head. Sweet aroma of caramel and milk chocolate backed with light fruits (cherry?). The flavor had caramel, chocolate, and dark fruits, with a nice vanilla backing. Medium to full body and smooth carbonation. Very nice! joet (2678) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - AUG 19, 2008
This is a great balance of intense but manageable features. Foresty wood flavors and aromas on viscous and creamy body that avoids sugary sweetness and excessive heft. No candy sugar headache material either. No flaws aside this an impressive vanilla, light cocoas, rum and cookies kind of good. The lack of fruit flavors is very welcome. The alcohol was hardly there. In fact, my first guess was about 6.8 which made me wonder if the official 12% is accurate? Delicious and impressive. Very unique. Bottle at OT. I got a sip from Anders and I didn’t see it poured but as it was the same bottle as omhper drank I’ll give his rating for appearance. The beer itself has a big aroma of perfueme, and exotic wood. The taste is full of spices and caramell. This is well balanced and perfect sipping beer. omhper (26039) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 19, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2008 Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Very dark brown, minimal brown head. Spicy aroma of cinnamon and ginger, without really giving the impression of being spiced. Sweet and syrupy, full sized with lots of caramel, gingersnaps, molasses, wood and herbs. On top of that there’s white chocolate, honey, cardamom and café au lait. A powerful, complex and unusual sipping beer.

Very dark brown-black beer with a thick sticky brown head and a thick motor oil pour. Aroma is quite rich and chocolatey with a sweet cocoa note over a light dried plum/date sweetness. Raisin and demerara sugar over a soft dried cherry sweetness. Flavour is really intense... chewy and sweet with lots of cocoa and toasted malt backed by light vanilla and fruitcake. Rich toasty finish with a lingering warming spiced rum finish. Warming it up brings up cinnamon and toast over all of the other notes. Really unique and quite tasty. chronictonic (490) - Oreland, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 18, 2008
Dark mahogany brown pour with a tan head. Aromas of chocolate and dried fruits - cherries and other tart berries. Round, full mouthfeel - slightly bitter - maybe from the wood - but not hoppy. Some flavors of dry, powdered unsweetened chocolate. A very interesting beer! MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - AUG 17, 2008
12oz bottle from a trade with not sure who. Pours a dark brown-black with a brown head and great lacing. Nose is of chocolate and wood. Taste is of chocolate, fruit and malt. Yum! Mouthfeel is medium-to-thick with a slight alcohol warmth. Very nice. JoeinDahlem (1611) - Berlin, GERMANY - AUG 17, 2008
Bottle pours almost totally black, thin and disappearing brown head. Looks thick and viscous. Smells woody, vinous, with a touch of sweet vanilla, brown sugar. Tastes initially sweet, caramelized like burnt sugar, backed by a woody and roasty depth, and only mild bitterness. Thick but lively. Gets sweeter as it warms. Begs for some creme brulee or a cigar. Black with a dissapating tan head. Dark fruits, vanilla, woody and roasty notes. Medium to full bodied. Totally awesome.
