dark orange with two fingers of creamy white head. Nose is all ginger, little but if yeast. Medium mouthfeel, not quite as sweet as I’d expected. A certain harshness on the finish. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 24, 2012
A - Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet lightly bready malts, with some ginger, some Belgian yeast and spices, and some grains.
T - Starts off with some sweet bready malts with some ginger and a touch of citrus. Through the middle, some Belgian yeast and spices come through alongside some grains. The finish is a mix of bready caramel malts, grains, Belgian yeast, and some ginger and other spices.
M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate-plus carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and lightly spicy and dry finish.
D - Very drinkable. The ginger is a nice addition on top of the BSPA base. And the grains give the beer a really nice smoothness. MikeyMalts (64) - Davis, California, USA - MAY 8, 2012
(#55) 750ml aged and bought in Dec. 2010. Tulip glass. Appearance: Light golden straw color, hazy. Good frothy white head retention and lacing. Aroma: Sweet but some spice to it. Clove, banana, melon, grape, honey, lemon, pepper. Taste: A nice spice to it, ginger comes through. There is a orange taste, but combines with the ginger to make it slightly bitter. Some honey sweetness. Palate: Light bodied. Smooth. Some carbonation but not much. Overall: Very easy to drink, no apparent alcohol taste. Great mellow beer, happy that I bought two. However, I was expecting more levels of flavor from all the ingredients used. superspak (5600) - Michigan, USA - MAY 5, 2012
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2011. Pours cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap. Some bits of lacing on the glass. Aromas of grape, pear, ginger, apricot, clove, pepper, biscuit, honey, citrus peel, and herbal spiciness. Some nice and interesting aromas; with good balance and complexity. Taste of grape, ginger, apple, pear, clove, apricot, pepper, banana, biscuit, honey, and herbal spices. Lingering notes of apricot, pear, pepper, clove, biscuit, ginger, and herbal spices on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of flavors with good complexity; and no cloying sweetness at all. Medium carbonation and body; with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. No alcohol presence noted other than a faint warming after the finish. Overall this is a really nice Belgian style ale. Very unique flavor profile with nice complexity; and very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this one. high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - MAY 3, 2012
A clear medium gold with an off-white head and lacing. The aroma has lots of Belgian yeast along with some ginger and grapefruit notes. The flavor is light, with the yeast and ginger up front, a smooth body, and yeasty, slightly sweet aftertaste.

Acquired this a while ago. Not sure when maybe 4 months ago. Poured into a delirium glass at cellar temp.

A - 1-finger yellow brown head, creamy head. Dark amber appearance
S - Ginger, light hops, orange peels and licorice.
T - Overwhelming ginger taste. too much. Bready taste and bits of cheap candy from the dollar store
M - 50/50 carbonation, heavy body. Lingering cheap candy taste that never seems to go away
O - Didn’t enjoy this beer at all.
Draft at the Khyber. Muddled orange color with a tight white head. Lots of fruity ester and spicy notes. Passionfruit. Nutmeg. Orange zest. Ginger. Pineapple. Hint of some earthy truffle flavors. Pleasant, but still seems more of a collection of flavors than a smooth blend. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - APR 6, 2012
The beer pours an orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of bread with some ginger notes. There is also some fruit in the aroma but I can’t put my finger on exactly what fruit it is. The flavor is similar. The predominant flavor I get is ginger, but there is also some sweetness from the bread and toffee malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Pretty good, but I was hoping the beer would be more complex. Tybalt (212) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Gorgeous, dark golden ale...makes you feel fancy just looking at it. Very nice, strong ginger smell - kinda like the pickled ginger you get at a sushi bar. You taste the ginger immediately, then a slight barley maltish flavor, then Belgian yeast....and then you taste the ginger again. It really is like a world tour...you even end up right back where you started! daleharshman (1064) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 21, 2012
750 ml bottle purchased over a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($10.99). Pours a clear dark honey-amber hue with a full two fingers of eggshell-colored head. Aroma of ginger, honey, and sticky fruit, and cloves. Flavor has notable ginger along with honeysuckle, caramel, dry spice, and fruity esters (lemon, orange) courtesy of the Belgian yeast. The ginger is good and there’s a nice level of sweetness. Light mouthfeel with a tinge of alcohol present. Pretty good, but the price leaves a lot more to be desired. (713, 676)
