3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a 12oz bottle (thanks Fernando). Pours clear copper with a thin head. Smells of holidays - allspice, pumpkin, and brown sugar. The aroma is awesome. Tastes of cinnamon, sugar and spices. No hops with a light malt backbone. This is as close to Thanksgiving pumpkin pie as it gets. Medium body, light carbonation, 7%. Raised on Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale (my friends Uncle is Buffalo Bill), this is the best pumpkin ale and one of the finest holiday ales around. Sometimes Dogfish Head gets too complicated with too much going on but not here. Simple and great.
From Feb 2007
Pours from 12oz bottle a clear reddish gold with a medium sized head of foam that shrink slowly leaving a fine broken layer with some lacing.
The smell is, wow. Who put a fresh slice of warm pumpkin pie to my nose when I wasn't looking?? I mean it for real. ;^)
The taste is big on the spices with huge notes of biscuit, sweet malt and an authentic Pumpkin flavour that puts a huge ass grin on my face. There's even some hoppiness in the background that adds some nice tartness but doesn't detract a smidgeon from the overall pumpkin flavour. Again I say, Wow! There's also a bit of fruitness there, I can sense some plum and raisin. What a tasty brew!! My gosh, I'm *so* glad I got to taste this one.
Bottom line: Fancy that, a Pumpkin Ale that actually tastes like pumpkin! This one *has* to be the standard bearer for the style, no question about it. I can't recommend this one enough!
My thanks go out to Wasatch for this beauty! piraat83 (15) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 13, 2017

12 ounce bottle at the North Hills Arts Center Beer Tasting Party. Pretty good but nothing more than just average. DraftCaptain49 (42) - - OCT 9, 2017
Old standard pumpkin without a whole lot going on. It's a quality fall beer, but you sort of wish it had something else in there going for it. As usual, the price for this is outrageous--15 dollars for something that's good, with a brightly covered scent, but generic too. It tastes like a boring brown ale with a little more excitement. The beer equivalent of old shoe leather. Bring your prices way down, Dogfish, it can't honestly cost that much to make this beer. The new cover is a bit boring, appetizing, but boring. From a six-pack. Medium quick-dissolving head, not much aroma. Sickly sweet palate with a bitter finish...but the advertised spices are there for sure. I'm reminded why I don't usually drink these pumpkin/spiced concoctions. No thanks.

Perfect amber color. Aroma of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, just like pumpkin pie. It has a a nice flavor or pumpkin pie, and brown sugar. Sadly the mouthful is very watery. The finish is awful, bitter, metallic, awful bitter orange peel. Pass.........

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2017 Draft. It poured an amber color with an off-white head. The aroma and taste was pumpkin and allspice. Overall, it is an ok pumpkin ale. acarnicelli (9) - - SEP 23, 2017 does not count
A nice pumpkin ale. Not the best that DFH has to offer but still very good.
