COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

750 ml, "Bottled on 02/12/07." Thats right; another cellar treasure. Pours a pinkish brown beer under a fizzy Belgian type head. Smell of grape juice, kind of like their later Sixty-one. Smell has that coriander, plus some aromatics probably from Belgian malt, and maybe a bit of the wine barrels, though its almost like incense. Taste has very distinctive Pinot Noir, and still has plenty of yeast to it as well. I had this bottle sitting upright, but it must have gotten stirred around when I opened it. A lot of citrus to it as well. I guess I like the wits more when theyve been duded up a bit beyond the natural versions of the style. Some oxidation midway through suggests that that probably should not age as long as I let this sit.

Half growler. Light haze on the orange-amber brew topped by a film of spit. Toasted wheat, rye, citrus, cocoa and bubblegum aroma. Tastes of bubblegum, spicy tripel yeast, earthy potato bread, cocoa and citrus. Medium-heavy body has a dry slant and low-medium carbonation.

This is a good beer. The moscato grapes its brewed with add a nice flavor thats reminiscent of wine (as it should be), but it still tastes more like a beer. Its a solid effort from a great brewery.

750 ml bottle. Pours a murky Amber orange color topped by a large long lasting rocky beige head. Wonderful clinging lace. Unique aroma is comprised of yeasty, sulphury vinous notes and orange peel. First sip has traditional Belgian Witbier character. Notes of coriander and orange peel mix with dough and hay. Then, sweet fruity, yeasty integration and tart grape affluence. The flavors meld wonderfully as if they were always meant to be together. The beer improves as it warms, with the 10% ABV remaining well disguised in the complex flavors. The is a hint of oakiness in the finish, though the character is somewhat subdued. Overall, a real adventurous brew, one you come to expect from the folks at Dogfish Head.

Uber, Seattle. Thin cream, lacing. Pretty clear, orange brown. Rich aroma, Belgian yeast and tripel territory weight. Hints of dark grape must. Rich but fairly bright body, weight and alcohol are present at the end. A bit sweet around the edges. Some herb-spice sharpness. Barrel note is faint but present. Nice.

Copper color, hazy, with a foamy white head. Belgian yeast aroma, with fruity notes. Sweet, fruity flavor, distinct grape flavor in the finish. Nice one...Whitney likes it too.

Surprised I never rated this ... I do have some older bottles in the cellar. On tap at TJs. Poured a deep amber to copper color with a smaller sized head. Fruits, spices, some wine notes, and vanilla.
