COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. This has been one of our most popular Limited Edition beers at both our Rehoboth Beach, DE brewpub and at festivals. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

Tap at gravity. Golden orange with small head. Just a tad tart. Listed as a wit on the menu, definitely not that. Fruity grape and mild boozy hit. Wine barrel influence is mild. Interesting complexity and enjoyable, but not sure I’d seek this out again.

750mL bottle. Pours caramel with a medium off-white head. Aroma is wine, oak, orange, wheat, and yeast. Taste is wine, alcohol, orange, spice, caramel, and oak. A touch of yeast. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Smooth, slick, and slightly creamy mouthfeel. This really isn’t much like a witbier, but is very interesting. King of reminds me of Midas Touch.

From a bomber. Pours a dark, almost opaque orange and makes a thick off-white head. A bit of lacing follows the liquid down the glass. Aroma is of oak, Pinot Noir, and malted barley. Really good beer. Super easy finish with nice present fruity flavors, the Pinot noir really comes through, but the corriander and oak keep things balanced. Good beer

2013 750 ml bottle Aroma: mostly fruity aroma with stale green apples (oxidation shows up here), vinousy notes, and lots of spices included the expected coriander. Appearance: pour a pale/medium amber with a thin off-white head that has decent retention. mostly clear as it warms but there is some visible sediment. no lacing observed. Flavor: a lot of caramelly sweetness, vinousy overtones and oak. earthy hop flavors are minimal but bitterness is significant to mostly balance. Palate: rich, creamy almost chewy texture, medium body, almost on the full side. carbonation is light and lacking a bit (shows age here as well). a mild astringency is present. Finishes sweetish, vinousy with a long lasting astringency and hints of alcohol. Overall: didn’t know what to expect here as far as cellaring. its an aged 10% abv beer. it was never a favorite of mine when fresh but its held out pretty well.

Fantastic. Perhaps the best I’ve ever had. This brewery did everything it set out to do with marrying the wit with the wine. A taste of balanced grape and honey and carbonation.

Half growler. Light haze on the orange-amber brew topped by a film of spit. Toasted wheat, rye, citrus, cocoa and bubblegum aroma. Tastes of bubblegum, spicy tripel yeast, earthy potato bread, cocoa and citrus. Medium-heavy body has a dry slant and low-medium carbonation.
