COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Combining a roasty Imperial Stout with a jammy Syrah wine, this beer is bold and complex. Notes of coffee, dark chocolate and anise from a blend of roasted malts meld with flavors of plums, cherries and stewed fruits from Syrah grape must in this jet black stout. Aged on American oak to add some light toasty vanilla to the mix.

12 oz pour, enjoyed during a blind barrel aged beers tasting. Near black pour. Definitely has a sweet side. Toasty malts, certainly a wine barrel from my blind notes. Dark fruits, but sits under the bold base stout. An interesting and unique stout here. I liked this one, which was an unpopular one in the room during the tasting. After the reveal and a retry, the grape notes really stand out. Good beer overall.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018 12oz bottle from Throx Country Store. Aromas of oak, red wine, cacao, light roast. Black with a fairly lasting off-white head. Dry, winey, roasty, bitter chocolate. Full bodied.

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with bubbly tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of dark roast, burnt sugar, light wood, and dark fruit. Taste has some molasses, minimal fruit, lots of roast, minimal oak. Pretty standard stout really, need to up the adjuncts.

All grape and roast on the aroma, some lactose sweetness. Flat black color with a very small tan head. Roasty stout flavor with a wine-like finish. Palate was a little thin but good carbonation for a stout. This was good, just not worthy of the lofty ratings. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330mL bottle, pours jet black with a medium brown head. Aroma brings out a deep complex roasted malt character, with red grapes, oak and chocolate. Flavour is very complex, bringing out the red wine grape must, moderate roasted malt character and tons of wood. Oaky, vinous finish. Love the red wine character here. Excellent.

Dark brown, thin head. There’s a lot of roast, with a hint of fruity notes. On the palate, it has a light chocolatey note, with a touch of roastiness. A bit thin but it could actually use more sugars. Still, it’s fun, and reminded me that I need to go to Sicily and just eat for a month.

On tap at P&P Charleston. Black with medium light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, medium body, medium carbonation, velvety texture, and little lacing. Taste is chocolate, cocoa, and some dark malt.

I typically dont like oak aged beers, but this one isnt too oaky at all. Enjoyable imperial stout. Not too boozy for this style.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a short dark tan head. Aromas of dry oak, wine barrel, coffee, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of very dry almost burnt roasted malts offset by a vinous fruitiness. Additional notes of dry licorice, oak, and dry dark coffee. Dry alcohol finish. Distinctive. Good. As advertised...

Dark brown and clear color, tall, brown head. Full body, lean texture, very strong flavor, high alcohol and carbonation, Intense and perfectly balanced sweet/sour/bitter taste, bitter and tasty finish. Concentrated and delicious flavors of coffee, chocolate, vanilla well supported by a just right structure. Hint of dates, toast but not so much of wine. Superb flavor, would be an even better beer if the texture were silky. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
