Sort of purple-red color with minimal head. Fruity and slightly hoppy aroma. Slight grape juice mixed with beer flavor. Interesting but not something I could do on a regular basis. bavarian81 (157) - Massachusetts, USA - JUN 13, 2014
I certainly appreciate all that dogfish does. I think they are one of the most creative brewers around. I just don’t know how I feel about this strong grape aroma and flavor this beer has going on. It’s good enough. But I think I’d prefer the 60 or 90 minute over this one lesifflebiere (1928) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 13, 2014
Nose is a fruity citrus hop, kind of a sweet grapefruit as the dominant tone. Pours clear with a color somewhere between pale amber and rose, with a head of pink-tinged foam. Taste has plenty of nice aromatic citrusy-floral hopping. Appropriately bitter for an IPA, but with an additional element of dry bitterness that tastes like it derives from wine tannins, which notably effects how the brew finishes. Very well-done on the dry grape notes from the Syrah - imparts a fruitiness to the brew without a hint of sweetness (which is all in the nose). If you like IPAs and dry red wine, it’s hard not to like this one. PapaSkeetSkeet (1010) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - JUN 12, 2014
Deep amber with inch of foamy, frothy, light-pink head. Slow-to-fade. Aroma is lagerish with light notes of berries. Body is watery with thin carbonation. Flavor is also fruity, thin and watery, grassy notes, slightly metallic, but clear otherwise. Boring! (not much grape flavor).

Bottle at home. Medium high pale pink fluffy lasting head. Good looking clear pale ruby body. Mild and relatively weak sweet dusty malt with an acidic note. The flavor is an interesting and hard to describe mix of sweet and bitter and acidic malts with a high carbonation and a long bitter sweet finish. The alcohol level seems just right. jsnicholas (681) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - JUN 8, 2014
Bottle (12oz). Kind of Purple colored, kind of wine like. Quite a bit of carbination. An unusual brew that works well. The grape flavors are definitely there. cathcacr (647) - Oregon, USA - JUN 8, 2014
I have to respect this brewer for all its willingness to experiment with styles and charge the price of merely half a matinee movie ticket to experience a one-bottle glimpse into brewer victory-land. The aroma alone is likely worth the price of admittance, and accurately clues you in as to what’s to follow. Comes off as a bit tart at the end, but such things cannot be helped given all that this delightful brew delivers: Imagine if you will a candied imperial IPA ... this is a good approximation of such a worldly delight. Bottle. Aroma is guava, peat, earthy, and hoppy. Taste is fruity, of course. Cabernet, guava, passion fruit, hops. Excellent and refreshing fruit IPA. Tide (4362) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 7, 2014
Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Copper color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, ripe fruits, hops, grapes and resin. Bitter finish with citrus, grapes and resin. Decent brew, but feels really unbalanced.
