Bottle sample at tasting at Beer&Beyond shop. Pours a bit hazy red-purple with a small head. Smell of grape juice and hops. Taste - sweetish with grapes, berries and caramel notes, some sour acidity, light bitterness. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Interesting.

Clear cranberry red, almost a dark pink, with a one-finger foamy offwhite head that retained well and left nice lace. Vinuous grape aromas with pine and earthy hop notes. Sharp tartness up front that mellows as the beer warms, but it keeps the hops in check, so its nothing like the 60. Light to medium body, generous carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a lingering grape sweetness.

4-pack - 12 ounce bottles - $8.98 at Sherlocks in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Bottled on: 08/01/13.

Appearance: Pours a dark pink-purple body, clear, with a medium-sized, white head. Very meager lacing.

Smell: Displays a blend of citrus, a sliver of sweet-scented malts, mild spice, moderately vinous grape must with a lightly tart, berry vibe to it.

Taste: Slender malts, a nibble of cracker, a faint sweetness. Berryish flavor from the syrah grape must with a middling tartness about it. Growing spiciness and citrusy, faintly resiny hops with an anticipated pop of bitterness. 61 walks the line between being vinous and hoppy on the back half until the fairly dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation, lightly foamy.

Overall: Not bad, not great, but I finished the four-pack. It was a nice twist without entirely sacrificing the originals hop character.

It looks like grape juice, or wine. You can smell the grape, and some berry notes. The finish tastes just like a wine, it's dry. Taste- Starts off with a mixture of Syrah, some light cherry and strawberry. You can taste some hops like you normally do from an IPA, but the marriage between wine and beer is great with this beer. There isn't much of a piney taste with this beer, and that's great with this style of IPA, and wine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From notes: Poured clear copper color, with a 3-finger off-white head. Aroma was mildly citrus and pine, with a light earthy note as well. Medium body, mildly oily with a tannic, dry finish. Flavor was wine-like grape mixed with citrus notes. Wood and caramel notes beneath.

Bottle poured a light red amber color with a ring of off white head on the glass. Aroma has surprising bright hops, sweet malt, citrus, grape skins, and some fruity sweetness. Mouth feel is medium light and the carbonation medium low. Flavor has interesting sweetness, some countering bitterness, grape skins, dark pit fruit, and some berry. The grape flavor is unique and it does have some funky dust.

Pours deep amber, faint pink half finger thin head, nice lacing. Aroma, bready, caramel malt, un-ripe grapes, no hop presence. Taste grapes up front, then bready, caramel malt, not overly sweet, but still no hop presence. Mouth feel is medium body, high carbonation, sweet finish. Overall, interesting, not bad, but not real good, it?s like an amber ale with a bit of grape juice.

Bottle. Bottled on: 05/10/13. A clear ruby pour with a thick off-white head. The subtle nose features some crisp caramel maltiness, grapes, hints of cherries, and a splash of lemon juice. Thin to medium-bodied and crisp on the way down. The taste starts with some grapes, light plum flavors, berries, and wine. A touch of caramel and some cereal graininess here and there. Bitter lemons and grapefruit juice at the end. The quality is there, but its not exactly my cup of tea (like most other Dogfish beers, it seems).

Pours deep, dark red. Lasting head and some lacing. Aroma has notes of cherry and grape with a moderate hop presence. Taste is bitter sweet with notes of wine, grapefruit, and peaches. Finish is mildly alcoholic.
