From tap at Sunset Grill. Pours cloudy to hazy yellow with a small white head. Coriander spiced aroma. Ginger, citrusy and coriander spiced. Phenolic and rather sweet. Lingering coriander and sweet finish.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy golden with a small rough off-white head. Fruity, yeasty aroma with a lot of spice. Medium body, slightly tart - but fresh fruit - and lots of it. A lurking sweet woody note - very subdued though. Some warming alcohol in the finish. Pleasant. 030711

750mL bottle, sent from coryking (thanks a lot, Cory), pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out the cardamom, lots of berries, some earth and subtle brandy oak notes. Flavour is subtler on the cardamom, at least at first, revealing lots of berry / fruit juice, candied sugar and slight oak, but the barrels are very far back. Extremely fruity, with the berries dominating. Quite sweet and not overly complex, with the cardamom and fruity sweetness lingering on the finish. Decent.

Bottle. Pours clear golden orange with white head. Nose/taste of cardamom, orange peel, vanilla, oak, burnt sugar, beet sugar, ginger, citrus and bready lemony malt. Some brandy/alcohol in finish. Medium body.

A: The pour is a slightly hazed golden with a short lived white head that ends up being a thin ring around the glass. S: Lots and lots of spice, particularly cardamom. The spice/herbal character makes the beer almost medicinal. There seems to be some peppery notes to it as well. Maybe a little bit of fruit and oak. T: The oak seems to be way more present on the palate. An intensely herbal and spicy flavor of cardamom, sage, and pepper. Sweet and slightly sugary underneath. M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation. D: A little too spicy for me to be able to drink all that much of it, but surprisingly decent for a beer that Dogfish Head beer.

Bottle @ J&C, Friday session, 2011. Thanks. Pours cloudy golden with a creamy lasting head. Nose is heavy cardemum - quite one dimensional. Flavor is fruity orange, yeast, oak, cardemum and a bit of alcohol. Full bodied. Dry and bitter end!

Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks to Pinball. Clear yellow/golden - white head. Sweetness, cardemom, spicy, high spicy, bubblegum, candy sweetness, light malty, oakey, boozy notes, sharpness, light fruity, wooden dryness. OK - but a bit too sweet.

750 ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of cardomom, pear, citrus, vanilla and light oak. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cardomom, vanilla, fruittiness, straw and light oak with a smooth lingering fruity finish. Popskull was better.

Draft. Poured hazy amber color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy herbal sweet yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex spice yeast sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded.
