30-05-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their May discovery box).
The looks of the beer are nice. It looks exactly as I’d expect form an American Pale Ale. The beer has a nice amber-brown color. It has a pale orange glow. It is a very cloudy beer. You can’t see trough the beer. On top of the beer a nice soft layer of foam is formed. Foam retention is good. After some time still a nice layer of the soft foam is left.
The smell is nice. The beer smells firm and robust. There are some sweeter malt tones in the back, but the main aroma is that of hops. I smell lovely bitters of the hops, mainly spicy and herbal hop aromas. It smells familiar and nice. I like it. There are also some delicate citrus aromas that appear after the spiciness. I like it. It is interesting and a bit mysterious. Different from most American Pale Ales.
The taste is pretty much the same. Delicate sweet malts and strong bitter and slightly acidic hops. There is the same spicy flavour at first, followed by some more delicate citrus flavours. Quite nice. I like the delicate fruity touch of the hops, besides the bitters.
The palate of the beer is fine. Medium body, smooth with a tiny sticky touch and medium high carbonation. The finish contains those lovely bitter hops, with those spicy touches. Nice one. Scopey (15500) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2017
Keg at Lisbeer. It pours hazy amber with a medium off-white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, bright, lemongrass, lychee, lemon peel, bread and icing sugar. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, toasted pine, pithy lemon, biscuit, big lychee vibe and grass with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Pretty alright stuff. victorsampson96 (143) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2017
UPDATED: MAY 16, 2017 (From the keg) Pours a very clear amber beer, with little effervescence, and a thin white head. The aroma is classic APA - grapefruit, lemon peel, mango, pine, earth, and caramel. The finish is subtly dry. A smooth, medium mouthfeel. A pleasant, rounded, and uncomplicated APA.
