Black with thin creamy head. Aroma has caramelised red fruits and dark malts. Flavour is very powerful with syrupy sweetness combined with heavily roasted malt bitterness. Full bodied and dangerously easy to drink. ruigo (3080) - PORTUGAL - MAR 27, 2017

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2017 Bottle at Duque Brewpub. It pours pretty much black with a decent tan head. The aroma is rich, sweet, sticky, cream, vanilla shortbread, strawberries & cream, red wine, toasty, custard, vanilla creme brulee and candy. The taste is slick, bitter - sweet, juicy, strawberry, cream tea, scone with jam&clotted cream, toasty, roasted malt, some warming alcohol with a dry, roasted finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. Really like the influence of the red wine barrel aging. Must be a fresh barrel given all that vanilla and strawberry. Smells a bit like a funky budda beer, only achieved without adjuncts. One of my favourite beers from Portugal so far. More red wine barrel aging please! cervmagpt (964) - PORTUGAL - FEB 13, 2017
