3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/31/2012. Pours a fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, toffee, roasted malt, oak, toast, light coffee, and light smoke. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, oak, smoke, roasted malt, toast, toffee, and light smoked ham. Slight roasty bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, oak, toast, toffee, and smoke on the finish for a bit. Very nice flavor balance and robustness; very pronounced but balanced oak flavor; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. It feels a touch on the thin side, but it’s not detrimental. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice oak aged stout. Nice amount of robust flavors for a 6% beer with a nice balanced smoke complexity; and extremely smooth to drink as expected. A very enjoyable offering.
12 ounce bottle. Opaque dark brown color. Small creamy beige head. Roasted malt flavor is a bit thin. Notes of oak and vanilla, I think? A bit of chocolate on the finish. No barrels were harmed in the making of this stout. anthony850 (472) - Andover, New Jersey, USA - JUN 24, 2017
Nice bourbon and oak flavor. With a hint of vanilla.

bottle. pours black with the tiniest glimmer of ruby. minimal, off-white head which drifts away quickly leaving a patchy lacing on the glass.
aroma fairly bland, nothing standing out. some slight coffee but nothing pushing through.
bitter tastes abound, balanced well with dark chocolate. burnt flavours in the background. very smooth oath/creamy finish, which lingers long and disappears gradually. ffaoe (838) - Moorestown, New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2016
coffee and oak aromas. black in color with decent light brown head. taste is of chocolate, faint coffee, vanilla, and oak notes. Larry_Duffman (568) - - NOV 12, 2016
I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours very dark brown with a tan head and some lacing. The aroma is vanilla and some oak. The taste is vanilla, milk, and oatmeal. It’s very smooth. The vanilla tastes natural and isn’t overpowering. This was a lot better than expected. I’d get more from this brewery.

12 oz bottle. This had a nice taste overall with real flavor from the oak barrel. One of the better oak stouts on the market. MikeFurl (15) - New Mexico, USA - SEP 23, 2016
Tried on draft. Solid stout with good taste and finish. Not as heavy as Guiness but still quite filling.

Dommage katrinaez (2137) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 30, 2016
Low oak scent and flavour, a bit watery. Slight sweetness up front. Not a lot of hops or bitter, but still a nice velvet coating and a thick enough to a be a decent style for the beer. Bottle UDBeernut (2883) - Saint Johns, Florida, USA - JUL 28, 2016
bottle enjoyed in an hotel room. poured into a glass, yes that’s right a hotel glass. pours the part but with a head that completely disappears. some oak and vanilla, cocoa. Full body but with a velvet feel.
