Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. More chocolate than roast. Average moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. yngwie (17185) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2014
Bottle. As Baltic Porter. It pours an almost clear body, brown in color and with a small, beige head. The aroma has some roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, with a faint touch of dried fruits and wet cardboard. It’s full-bodied and very soft on carbonation, with some warmth from the alcohol. Dried fruits, roasted malts and some coffee in the flavor. Sweet, roasted finish, yet it feels dry. A nice bitterness towards the very end. Starts pretty boring this one, but turns out to be quite nice. 140118 Dedollewaitor (16359) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 18, 2014

Bottle, courtesy of nimbleprop – thanks! Really excited to try this; it’s been quite a while since I’ve had a new Baltic Porter. Pours deep brown with a huge tan head. Lots of roast in the aroma with a lighter mocha presence. Good roast flavors, cocoa, and mocha. Just a little licorice and lightly earthy. Finishes well. Doesn’t strike me as traditional to the style, but enjoyable nonetheless. cazort (567) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 2, 2014
Pleasant from the first sip, but a little uninteresting. The high-ish alcohol content is exceptionally well-masked. From the taste, I’d guess 5% or lower ABV so I’m impressed. When I pay attention, I detect a lot of things in the aroma, including the hints of licorice and chocolate mentioned in the commercial description. But I find this beer is easy to ignore...it’s smooth and goes down easy, for better or worse, and I find the way it tastes makes me want to drink it fast, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. I wish it were less sweet and more bitter. It’s sweet and a bit syrupy at times, especially towards the end when I feel it has lost most of its carbonation. The roasted aroma comes out most in the finish. Not particularly hoppy. I think I can detect the rye in the aroma. Interesting, but only when I pay attention to it. I would gladly drink this again, but wouldn’t seek it out. Recommended if you want a dark beer for easy drinking, not if you want a really complex artisan brew.
