The Winter Brew varies year-to-year. The back label should state what style it is, so make sure you rate the correct style!

Designed by Old Dominion brewer Favio Garcia, this winter warmer is a big ale that is lushly hopped with Liberty, Cascade and Centennial hops. Whole leaf Cascade hops are added to the lauter tun. A delicious beer to toast the holiday season

This is the 2005 version. The 2007 version is listed seperately as Dominion Winter Brew 2007 (IPA)

Not bad, but nothing great here. The pour is a decent amber color with an off-white head. The aroma is pine hops and some sweet candied figs. The taste is a little thin and lacking in the hop department for this style. A little too tame in my opinion.

12-oz. bottle, dated 11.17.05, from moejuck. Pours a cloudy amber with some caramel adding to the hue, a medium off-white head, rocky that slightly diminishes to some patchy topping. Aroma is maple, brown sugar candied malt (cookie), yeast (dough) and fruit (apple, pear, peach) with perfume hop notes. Medium bitterness, slight acidity, caramel malt and wheat, dough yeast, slightly candied fruit, hop bite, dry and astringent. Medium bodied, dry and spicy palate. Thanks to Joe again for this tasty specimen.

Copper brown color, citrus hop undertone with a toasty nose. Hardly a nose.

Poured a deep copper color with a very fluffy white head that laced great. The aroma was of citrus and some spicing with some caramel malts detectable. The flavor was of some caramel and lots of citrus (bitter orange rinds) with significant hopping that brought with it some sort of spicey zing. Not sure what the latter was, but it was a bit of an odd mix for the style (creative, though).

Amber color with a beige head. Aroma of mild hops and caramel/candy malt. Flavor of caramel and butterscotch malt with some hoppy bitterness at the finish.

An intense hop aroma is evident. A moderately orange/rust tint, very clear with a off white head that is maintained while drinking. Good overall flavor, medium to high hop bitterness, but does not remain with aftertaste. Medium carbonation gives this beer a slight dry sensation. Overall I would rate this beer a slightly strong pale ale. A decent winter brew to enjoy for the holiday seasons.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2006 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours a dark amber color with a tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus, spices. Falvor is smooth, citrus with a bitter finish. Too bitter.

Pours a clear copper orange with a thin wispy off-white head. Sweet crystalized caramel toffee and fresh piney hoppy aroma. Body starts with some sweet fresh earthy malt and butterscotch flavor with lots of earthy dry hoppy bitterness toward the finish. Could be a little more refined and have less diacetyl notes.

Poured a clear dark amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma contained tons and tons of butterscotch. So much that I really cant get anything else out of the aroma other than some alcohol fumes. Flavor contains caramel, light hop and then a butterscotch finish. Slippery, slick mouthfeel. After looking at the ratings I am a little confused since I dont see much description about the butterscotch in other ratings.
