Not everyone will agree, but we are positive that the love of beer runs in everyone’s genes. From the day that cavemen first fermented barley and hops, beer has been the perfect companion to life’s perfect moments. That’s why we brewed Donn: a premium Belgian lager with a kick of tasty apple cider. It’s brewed with iconic Belgian craftsmanship. This brewing process, that is characterized by great love for the Belgian beer legacy, results in an unique and fresh beer that still has the one of a kind Belgian beer taste. Donn contains 5.5% alcohol, has a high fermentation (sic) and is served at a temperature of 3°C. All this makes Donn the perfect alternative to a classical pilsener! (from: http://www.donnbeer.com )

Bottle 33cl, a clear yellow beer with low head. Nose is a bit vinous on the white wine side. Aroma is on a lager, light grain, corn sugar, wet paper, watery body, less tasty, a very poor product.

Off aroma, hardly apple, hardly beery. Way sweet, bubbly, soda like, bit dry. Bleh, worse than my low expectations. (33cl bottle at Mexican food shop Donki Leuven)

From bottle. Clear pilsener. Mineral water, some malt, a bit of alcohol and some green apple. Finish is a little bit sticky, apple candy. Refreshing when cold

Alengrin (5369) - BELGIUM - AUG 21, 2014
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2014 Trendy ’nightlife’ beer, at least that seems to be the intention, very pretentious in trying to be better than its congeners, i.e. all those bland, often disgustingly aromatized lagers that are aimed at the same audience. I had to ask the people responsible for this for a transparent cup as this beer is not poured but intended to be drunk directly from the bottle. It showed a snow white head and pale golden blonde colour like any standard lager; weak aroma of sweet pale malts further sweetened by the apple cider with which it is blended and a vague hint of herbal hops. Thin and watery body, sweet, artificially apple-like, lightly malty, rather soft carbonation, lightly bitter finish. The quality of this ’beer’ is in total disproportion with the busy marketing it is surrounded by. Just another addition to the family of bland, trendy, watery, aromatized, awful lagers which anyone who has any knowledge about beer should avoid at all time.

Taste with beerfriends 06.05.2014 @ Heule. Thx to Melissa. Clear blond color, with white head. Aroma: some light herbs. Light to medium body. Taste: refreshing, sweet, like cider, where are the hops ?

PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 26, 2014
#10 rating of this beer. Bottle, not a glass, at some surfers club at the Belgian coast, APPEARANCE: what I think is a clear blond beer, head will remain unknown... NOSE: cider in this beer, might explain the slight fruity note here. Some alcohol noticeable as well. TASTE: little fruity, quite watery though, some alcohol, fresh pilsener like since it was very hot that day. Refreshing in a way on a very hot day, but will never buy this again...

Curious because of Tim, couldn’t resist when I saw the bottle in a store. Clear golden colour, diminishing white head. Aroma of malts, light apple, fusels. Sweet flavour, light apple. Finish sweet apple, lingering sweet. Too sweet for my palate.
(from 33cL bottle shared @ Oirschot home tasting)

Benzai (15602) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 19, 2014
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Martinus. Clear pale golden color, medium sized white head that diminishes almost instantly. Not a lot of aroma. Taste is flat, slightly a touch of sour apple and bleh. Watery and bad.
