Bottle. Murky brown with big off white head that doesn't last long. Almost destroyed a lamp with the rocket propelled cork, hahaha. Massive apple, candy, salmiak, licorice, big sweet malts and a hint of coffee. Quite sweet with musty apple finish. A bit all over the place but certainly not bad.

Dark brown with lasting, thick head. Some chocolate in the aroma. Flavour has a bit of caramel and some dark fruit sweetness. Also a tart, yeasty edge. Strangely creamy despite it’s gassiness.

(Dormaal Donker) Bottle 375 ml, corked and caged, served into a tulip. ABV 7.5% Opens with a loud pop, sending the cork to the other side of the room, and that’s when I released it from the cage. No gushing thankfully. Brown colour on the body, tall tan head, frothy, with low retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, lots of caramel, light cork, cake, vanilla. Taste doesn’t deliver, without that meaning is bad. Burnt sugar, roasted malts, coal, light acidity, red and dark fruits, alcohol, fruit cake. Medium body, average carbonation, sticky on the palate. Quite good.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, small tan head. Sweet nose, notes of prune. Taste is the same, quite sweet, with a prune/dade finish. Fairly typical strong ale, decent. Full body, soft carbonation.

I really liked this. Nose is sweet, plenty of oranges, belgian sugar, licorice, in the nose. Appearance is dark hazy reddish orange. Taste is a little sweet with a yeasty sour counter. Cocoa puffs can be tasted. Fulfilling, well balanced.

The dark one in this series, with an off-white, rocky head and misty bronze colour. Aroma of raisins, walnuts, orange peel, dates, liquorice. Neutral onset, bit metallic, dried fruits, rounded mouthfeel, caramelly and nutty malts in the background, yeasty with a not very pleasant sourish touch (infection?), mild chicory-like bitterness in the end. Of the three regular Dormaals, this is my least favorite.

Bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting. Aroma is swampy, asperges, yeast, varnish. Wow, this is bad. Flavour is sweet swampy malt, vegetable and caramel. Yuck.

caesar (7286) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - AUG 13, 2014
Bottled @ de Molen tasting, small sample. Slight hazy copper color, short frothy head. Aroma of dark sugar, overly spiced, high fusel alcohol, slight varnish. Medium sweet in taste. Quite unbalanced and another mess from Hof ten Dormaal. As I said earlier: please stop brewing.

Bottle at the De Molen second Tuesday tasting August 2014. Poured a hazy dark amber with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is malt, medicinal, resin.... and not in a good way. The flavour is medium bitter with a light watery alcoholic, hop bitter palate and long bitter finish. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

kermis (14566) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 12, 2014
Bottle shared at the De Molen monthly tasting. Pours hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of garbage. Vegetal, fruity, chlorine nastiness. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
