This strong amber beer was first brewed in 1982 at the request of Van Steenberge’s Italian importer. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Bottle at De Paas. Almost clear copper golden with white head. Lots of sweet malts, light marzipan, peach, bitter alcohol, light grassy herbs, quite bready and some toffee. Over medium sweet with quite bitter alcoholic finish. Full bodied with alcoholic finish. Too much alcohol but not terrible.

One of the underestimated beers. Wide available in supermarkets but definitely oustanding aginst similar style beers. High on alcohol but a very pleasant balance between the sweet and the bitter. Worth trying again.

Where Purchased: 347ml bottle part of a fall/winter mixer pack from the LCBO Consumed: from a chalice Aroma: Smells faintly of malts. Not much else there. Appearance : unfiltered medium gold with lots of head that last to the last drop. Excellent lacing. Taste: sweet, slight malty yeast flavour. No bitterness. No booze taste. Palate : medium to heavy body. Slight sweet aftertaste. Great carbonation. Overall: great Quad. Easy drinking, non offensive. I was glad to try and will buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.

Amber color, large off white head. Aroma caramel, yeast, fruit. Full body, some alcohol. Flavor sweet at first, bit of hops at the back, some esters and spices. Interesting at best.

tgrtnr (322) - Augsburg, Bavaria, GERMANY - OCT 11, 2017
330 ml bottle, served in chalice. Pours pale vibrant orange with big foamy head. Ripe fruits, clove, coriander, bread. Fruity sweetness, hoppy bitterness. Finish is bitter with a strong alcoholic punch. Soft carbonated, medium body. Pure Belgium feeling.

FireGlider (697) - Zagreb, CROATIA - OCT 7, 2017
Golden color with big thick white head. Strong raisins aroma with some clove and dark fruits notes. Taste is sweet and strong. You can feel high alcohol content, but as strong taste more than alcohol. Not a drink for lager lovers.

0,33 v Lidli. uz vona dava najavo ze to bude zazitok. a chut je naozaj velmi prijemna, bohata.

Jingis (234) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - OCT 5, 2017
Zakupene v lidly. Pekna zlatista farba. Vona sice nevyrazna no chut to krasne kompenzuje. Prijemna husta chut s dlhou koncovkou.
