COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dos Equis Amber is a rich, full-bodied Mexican import with a reddish-gold color and is made from the finest ingredients, representing the brand’s traditional Mexican heritage. The history of Dos Equis Amber is traced to the development of the popular Oktoberfest-style of Vienna lager originally created during the mid-19th century.

A rich amber Mexican beer. I love Mexican beer, more so than any other South, Central, or Northern America. This is the best Mexican beer only to its brother Special Lager.

Dark amber color, small head. Vienna style lager, slightly caramelized malts, slightly hoppy. Mouthfeel is slightly malty. Balance is OK. Flavor is mild, but acceptable. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Had a few bottles of this after work. Very subtle nose is mostly doughy yeast and toasted malt. Pours a clear medium copper. Average fluffy off-white head is mostly diminishing with fair lacing. Mild flavor is very bland and shallow. The finish is weak. No acidity. Light to medium creamy body is lively and feels lightly astringent at the finish. A small step above most American Standard Lagers. Not what I would call Vienna as the label would have one think. I could buy a sixer of Miller High Life and save $3 instead.

Light brown/dark red in color. Malty aroma with a touch of hops and alcohol present. Fruity somewhat malty body that finishes lightly hoppy and dry.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2003 Although this Vienna style lager has a lovely deep amber hue, it is pretty flavorless. However, it's well-balanced and refreshing. The aroma is pleasant and yeasty. Goes well with spicy food... I guess that's its purpose. Don't buy this beer unless you are at a Mexican restaurant. In my opinion, that advice is pretty much true for any Vienna style brew. They all go very well with certain foods, especially beef jerky, but don't stand well on their own. My opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Overall, I like this beer and think it is a good value for the money ($4.99 at the local liquor store for a 6 pack). It does tend to give me an upset stomach after more than a couple though. I am definitely not ashamed to drink this beer.

Brewed in the Vienna syle this is far superior to the average Mexican beer.A pleasant refreshing taste with a delicate caramel aftertaste. A well balanced drink with a pleasant mahogany appearance.Recommended.

I didn't really enjoy this at all. Boring. The taste isn't very good and the aroma is awful. Not for me.

A lovely color and a light finish. A good bet at any Mexican restaurant if they don't carry Negra Modelo.
