Dos Equis Amber is a rich, full-bodied Mexican import with a reddish-gold color and is made from the finest ingredients, representing the brand’s traditional Mexican heritage. The history of Dos Equis Amber is traced to the development of the popular Oktoberfest-style of Vienna lager originally created during the mid-19th century.

The only beer out of Mexico that I have ever tried and liked. Give it a try. Rerate: see casta notes...this beer is like a bottle of ass compared to this.

Same as the dark, nice color, foamy head musty sour taste. ..................

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2003 In my local pub, they serve this on tap as 'Dos Equis'...it is better than it's lighter sibling. Nice color, and decent head, thin body. Flavor is good, but nothing really unique about it.

Actually, this rating is for the amber but that page was inoperable. Don't know if that's an alias for dark or not. All I could smell was corn. Copper brown with small, disappearing off-white head. Medium-high carb with watery body. Could taste alcohol, adjuncty and unnatural off-flavor. Reminded me of a sweeter Busch Ice. Disappointing.

One of the best Mexican beers. I've had some that tastes metallic (which certainly lowered my rating) but it is normally quite a tasty beer.

A very decent Mexican brew - but as with all, its crisp and very light - more for thirst quenching than really a sipping and enjoying type beer. Works well with spicey foods due to its light taste and palate.

Faint, sourish aroma. Opens sour and overly yeasty. The middle is malty with an alcohol tang. Finishes with lingering motor-oil aroma.

This tastes like a real beer to me while the other lighter XX beers do not. Not as good as the Negro Modelo, by virtue of it not having much bite to it. For such a huge brewery, this is not a bad beer at all.

Golden colour. Thin and bland. Avoid........................................

Kåstå (1272) - Mol, BELGIUM - JUN 23, 2002
Hop and metallic aroma. Neither a good nor an interesting beer..............
