The story of Doss Blockos

’...the mole people then join the search, but they were real. There is no actual manifesto that evolved from the underground New York movement in the late 1990s, which is when we first brewed beneath the city’s railway systems. Our beer surfaced when squats started surfacing all around the Lower East Side, before those people came...’

Doss Blockos has been stripped bare of anything but the essential taste we could ream from the specialty pale malt and cascade hops we have always used.

Light straw coloured, not much head. Weak taste , slightly sweet, with little mouthfeel. Had better pale ales.

From bottle in footed pilsner. Pours orangish yellow with whispy white head and modest aroma of bread and faint hops. Decent tasting lager with a hint of pine from the Cascade. Although not overtly hoppy, I'm guessing 1 IBU is a typo?

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2017 Floral citrus aroma in an amber pour. Laid back hop balance leaves a big malty body without a finish. An interesting hybrid - but bested by a regular mass market lager in most respects.

Quite drinkable and reasonably enjoyable, not a favourite though. Packaging was very appealing and the taste was hefty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Somewhat amusing story on the lable, beer tastes fine, not amazing but good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2017 Subtle pale malts with light spice. Light bitterness. Slightly above average clean taste. Some lasting hops. I agree with reviewers curious marketing comments. Not really worth all the extra packaging and marketing.

Mild aroma of grain and sweet malts. Fruity notes. Finish is kind of spicy and has pleasant bitterness. It is quite nice.

Where I hail from, a brown paper bag around a bottle signals a certain kind of parkbench-based ’cost-effective’ drinking. In other words, strong cheap ciders, malt likka and Buckfast. That makes it a curious marketing choice among many here. Others include the baffling ’mole people’ spiel on the label and a graphic of what appears to be someone spanking someone else. No explanations offered for any of this. These could be red flags or fancy-ticklers. I hoped for the latter, but what is in the bottle is lot less interesting than the packaging. In the glass, it looks like any other pale lager. Fine. Aroma is also typical - pale malts, bit of grainsack, soap, nondescript hop. The Cascade hop promised on the label is used with such discretion it barely registers. There’s a little white pepper, salt, faint honey. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to distinguish this from a hundred other Australian pale lagers. (330ml bottle from Dan Murphys)

330ml bottle(with its own brown paper bag). Poured into lager glass. Smells of malt and pepper. Beautiful Golden beer with small solid white head and many tiny bubbles. Good body, finish is malt, some grain, peppery hops and late fruity caramel. Quite subtle and pleasant, a superior lager.

Nice pour & Head .Good Carbonation ,Clear Amber in Appearance. Pretty bland Taste, Drinkable without being Remarkable.

Disappointed after the wrap from Fothers. Didn’t really get much cascade hops, skimping boys? Some malt coming through.
