On tap @ Barrelhouse 101. Copper pour with an off-white head. Fairly resinous, piney aroma. Some red fruits, wine, and oak. Sweet caramel, some grapefruit, and light alcohol. Flavor is fairly sweet with a light bitterness. Oak, wine, pine, and grapefruit. Some wine, red fruit, and caramel malts. A touch of brown sugar and a mild tartness of grape. Draft. Poured a hazy brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy toasted caramel malt, dark tannic fruit and alcohol aroma. Heavy sweet toasted malt, dark fruit flavor with a heavy tannic sweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This should be a top 50 standout beer. slowrunner77 (12972) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 21, 2014
My least favorite DB, but still pretty nice. Combines the agressive hoppiness in DB, and both mellows and compliments it with a fruity tartness. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 6, 2014
Brownish colored pour, tan head. Caramel, oak, booze, brown sugar, light wine notes. Pretty good. alexsdad06 (10938) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2015
Draft at the Lackman from notes. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a thin beige film. The aroma and flavor have caramel, oak, wine barrel, earthy hops, faded citrus hops, oak, tannins, red grapes, the flavor has some additional herbal spiciness. Barrel influences are noticeable, still pretty easy to drink, I’m glad I got a shot at this.

Murky rusted copper with a thick foamy sticky beige head. Intoxicating aromas with caramel, whiskey, vanilla and coconut oak char, and sweet red wine notes. Uh-mazing nose. The flavor is unfortunately a little too boozy. There’s this sharp alcohol phenol followed by a lovely red wine barrel note with a little char, strong ale mealtimes, and a bit of whiskey. Kinda malty and nuanced caramely but loads of barrel. bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - NOV 23, 2013
Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream head. Malt and oak aroma with light caramel. Earth and pine flavor with light grapefruit and oak. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and pine linger with earth, oak, caramel, and light red fruitiness. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 17, 2013

10oz snifter on tap at Lackman. $9. 2012 vintage. Hazy dark red kind of brownish color. Thin off white head, leaves great thicker lace. Nice webs and splotches. As good looking as this could be, probably. Very nice fruity, lightly tropical hop aroma, maybe more so than Fresh double Bastard. Wine barrel seems to bring out tons of good red grape and wood tannic aroma that really helps to smooth the whole thing out, very mellow and easy drinking. I’m always shocked how smooth Fresh double Bastard is, and yet this is even smoother. Bigger body. Super smooth lighter carbonation. Kind of a creamy, full body. Lightly dry texture in the finish, though slightly slick through the crest. Fantastically complex and easy to sip, so tasty. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet, light alcohol warmth. Amazing how good this is. One of the most impressive stone offerings I’ve had in a long time, probably since bourbon barrel IRS . Red wine barrel has worked wonders here. Still a very nice amount of hoppy bitterness still very much alive here, and an enhanced tropical fruity yet lightly vinous hop aroma is probably why I liked this so much, combined with a perfect texture and appearance. Fucking good stuff, so glad I dropped by Lackman on my way home just in case.... It ended up paying off handsomely. BuckeyeBoy (8558) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 8, 2013
