This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Rather enjoyable, but this definitely not a brew you can drink too many of in one day. Hops, hops and more hops. A sweetness of caramel is definitely present, but not distracting. Nice head.

Tap. Pours a deep copper with not very much head. I found this to be an abundance of hops with something missing. Some sweetness, but basically hoppy. Not as good as the well behaved arrogant bastard.

Stay far???? Hardly....... this one is like those little caramel cubes with a hop cone inside....well maybe not....what I am trying to say is tons of caramel and sweet malty with very spicy hop tatses. Yes an assault on the palate. Only could have 2 bombers then my tounge is dead

22 oz bottle. 2005 release. After the ADR Grand Cru I dont’ know if i can say much let alone type. Oddly first pour worked a nice head but second pour yielded almost none. Sort of a Belgian IPA in taste. Sweet malts yields quickly to the bitter hops. Medium light body. Very good but needs a re-rate.

There is a mild fruity aroma to double bastard. The pour is a mahogany red with a huge golden head. Head retention is fully lasting with cosiderable amounts of lacing. The flavor is initially caramel sweet but the hop bitterness quickly comes to dominate. The hop flavor is bold yet suprisingly smoooth even as the flavor builds.

Surprisingly, easier to drink than the smaller Arrogant. Still, take the advice and stay away from this beer. Truly an unforgiving assault. Caramel and hops.

Deep Red Heavy Caramel, One finger tan head clinged to glass rocky, Heavy palate rich malty flavor. Sipping brew. more malt than hops but still plenty of hops due to heavy malts. Only could do one.

Best "barley wine" ever. Deep red color with creamy off white/tan head. The taste was very robust and very enjoyable. Awesome ABV. I wish I could promote this beer more, a new favorite. Wish it was more readily available.

I work at a store called Beverages and More, and have the opportunity of talking to the stone reps every week. He said this years Double Bastard is gonna be even more burly!
